    Actuator rebuild

I’m looking to rebuild my power steering actuator. It’s from a 1990 alpha 1 gen 1. Has anyone been successful at rebuilding? Anything special that I should be aware of? Searching the net seems like most parts are no longer made. Im assuming it’s mostly seals and cleaning. I’ve removed it from...

    Exterior vs interior plywood

All, looking for advice on transom replacement materials. Since the wood will be sealed with resin and clothed over what’s the benefit of using exterior grade plywood vs interior grade for transom replacement? I see that the exterior is constructed with water proof glue. Any reason you can’t use...

    1990 Bayliner 2651 resto

Agreed Chuck! The bulkhead behind the fuel tank is dry but not good wood. It will come out and be replaced. Can’t wait to see what the fuel tank looks like… let alone the stringers along side it. Btw forward of the fuel tank( another compromising area) looks to be good. PO didn’t really use the...

Todays update. Happy Labor Day to all! demo on the motor mount stringers went well. Well….. went well since they were both close to rotted. Pics show the decapitation of starboard and port side motor mounts. Piece by piece…. so glad I took the initiative to dig in. They were toast.

Lol…Agreed… been going through all threads. Learning tons on this forum. Couldn’t do it without the knowledge of those here. It’s game on! No shortcuts taken. I keep digging out the rot. Just one step at a time. Transom to motor mount to bulkhead behind fuel tank. Once tank is out I’ll have a...

    1990 Bayliner 2651 resto

After much contemplating I will be cutting the tops off the engine mount stringers and replacing core. Before I went further I found a video on you tube where someone built a jig to get the proper( well close) measurements of stringer height and length relative to the transom. Bolts to the...

    1996 Stingray 556zp - Partial Floor Rot

No such thing as partial floor rot. Surprised they didn’t go further when they did a transom replacement. Agree with jbcurt… looks like a gut and rehab. Sorry 🙁

    outdrive stored down

It shouldn’t leak up or down. I agree with Lou C…. Fix the leak. Seal replacement on trim cylinder is easy. Hose fitting is a whole other story. Let us know where the leak is.

    1990 Bayliner 2651 resto

Port side stringer not so bad but did feel wet… starboard side was toast . I didn’t want to cut too far back. If needed can I decapitate the the top of stringer leaving the outer fiberglass skin? And replace the rotted wood inside? seems like there’s thick layer of glass already there. Saw a...

A little update… not much boating time this weekend had to take the daughter to “move in weekend“ to college. What an adventure. I managed to get the balance of the electrical out of the engine bay. Removed motor mounts and trimmed the inside glass of the transom almost flush. Next is to...
