2015 Dodge Grand caravan SE trailer wires installation failed

Oh, back subject....sort of.... My brother-in-law has a Chrysler product he wanted to add a hitch to. It's a Dodge Journey. I was almost going to volunteer my help since I added that complete setup to my daughter's Ram 1500 with absolutely no problems. When I looked into it, it seemed...

2015 Dodge Grand caravan SE trailer wires installation failed

Did that on my last trailer, but sold that rig. It's nice to hear that something is still made here in the U.S.A. My current trailer is still incandescent and I haven't had any problems yet even though it's nearly 20 years old. If and when I start having trouble, I will switch to LED in a...

2015 Dodge Grand caravan SE trailer wires installation failed

When troubleshooting, it is a priority to take every questionable connection out of the equation. Without that, you may get false readings prolonging your investigation, keeping your attention away from the actual problem. Tricking you into believing the problem lies elsewhere. You may even get...

2015 Dodge Grand caravan SE trailer wires installation failed

You do not need the trailer connected to the hitch ball to diagnose wiring problems. Period. The hitch has absolutely nothing to do with the wiring. If you need the ball for a ground, your wiring is incorrect. You are missing a ground wire in your harness. If you use the ball for a ground...

2015 Dodge Grand caravan SE trailer wires installation failed

Agree that you need a proper ground and a bad ground is indeed a common problem. BUT, NEVER EVER DEPEND ON THE HITCH BALL FOR A GROUND. That will always cause problems. You need a dedicated ground within your harness....period. No way around it.

Lifting boat off trailer to repair bunk

I recently replaced my 4 bunks while my 18.5 ft. bow rider was in my driveway. I thought about preparing the new ones and doing it in the parking lot at the boat ramp, but worried that there would be complications or I would need specific tools that I may not have brought with me. Seemed too...

How much outboard motors have improved.

Ha! J.C. Whitney! There's some memories! I wonder if they are still around? I'll have yo do a search.

    Electrical question

Loose or corroded connections? Especially check grounds. Bad ignition (key) switch? Maybe power is not passing through every circuit of the key switch at times. I would go through every connection I could find throughout the boat and make it all clean, shiny and tight. Use dielectric...

    overheat mercruiser

Water seems to remain in the intake manifold, even after draining everything. (2003 4.3L Mercruiser with 5 drain plugs) So, I should pull the hoses at the thermostat and pour AF down there instead of sucking the AF through the drive with muffs. Don't I have to pull the thermostat in order...

    overheat mercruiser

Really? There's no way the thermostat will open on muffs? If it's idling and gets hot enough, it will open, no? I respect your statement and knowledge. You know way more than me by far. But, once after performing my "procedure", I pulled the thermostat to replace it. I wanted to change it...

    overheat mercruiser

Or, you can make your own. A bucket with a bulkhead fitting, clear hose (for viewing) with a garden hose fitting on the end. Then a wye hose that has two valves ( used for some washing machines). Your garden hose connects to the wye along with your bucket filled with AF and the single end...

What is this on the transom?

Me too. Stern Saver is great and it comes with everything you need for mounting it. No holes at all in your transom.

    SternPad, SternSaver, Sternmate?

Yes, I have the stern saver and it's been on the boat for several years with no problems. I highly recommend it if you're like me and don't want any holes in your transom. It came with everything you need to secure it to your transom.

    Problem with a Mercruiser 5.7 V8 LX

$60!! I think I paid $42 maybe 3 years back. Mine was the original (2003) exposed printed circuit board. It was all corroded. The new one is nice. Completely sealed. Fixed the problem for me. That troubleshooting flow chart was a big help.

    Problem with a Mercruiser 5.7 V8 LX

That ignition troubleshooting chart is a very good step by step diagnostic tool. I would return everything to stock and go through that chart. If it's an ignition problem, you will find it with that chart. My first thought was a weak battery or corroded terminals/wires, but there could be...

    RWD Tow Vehicle Launch Issues?

I had two 4x4 Ford Rangers. One 1997 and the other 2008. Both were very capable for hauling stuff and towing. I remember more than once having a load in the bed of each where the hood was sitting high and the rear bump stops were touching! That was some real abuse, but those little trucks could...
