Alpa one Mercury MerCruiser

4.3L alpa 1 Mercury Mercruiser distributor has quit, the electric module is bad.
Trying to get this old?good boat up and running Per my mechanic you have a hard time replacing with a new distributor because they do not have the "cut out" to be able to shift.

These modules are old expensive and do not last. What would one replace it with?

Ayuh,..... Buy a Delco Voyager distributor kit,.....

The shift switch is where the shift cables meet, 'n nothing to do with the distributor,.....
Find a different mechanic,.....

Thinking maybe mechanic doesn't know of another ignition system that works with a shift interrupt?

In any case, if your current ignition system is thunderbolt has the module failed or the sensor in the distributor?

Mines 35 years old... They're pretty robust. Used ones around $150. I'd double check that the module is actually bad.
