    Bad Upholstery a Deal Killer?

Wow, that's a bit pricey. Then you got all those upholstered pieces along the gunwales. In a former life and in another century I worked in a custom van shop and did a whole lot of upholstery work. Is this beyond the scope of somebody willing to tool up who has at least some skills?

    Bad Upholstery a Deal Killer?

I appreciate all you old salts weighing in on this one and I know you're all right. It's just such a pretty boat and is priced at 1/4 what similar boats are listed for. Maybe not for me, but a bargain still I'm thinking. I'm not a fan of Force either, although to be honest I don't know much...

    Bad Upholstery a Deal Killer?

My thinking is this is like buying a car with fresh paint and a bunch of bondo underneath. Not a forever ride, but maybe good for a few years? If the floor starts feeling weak, out comes the For Sale sign! I'll likely pass on this even though it seems worth the money, but a lot of boats I'm...

    Bad Upholstery a Deal Killer?

Yeah, I know. It's and old glass boat. Well past it's prime. The floors are bare though so no hidden rot. Thing is the upholstery looks pretty worn out. Any idea what it could cost to get it redone? I've made covers for some snowmobile seats, if I bought a decent sewing machine would this be a...

    Worm Bed Anyone?

Thanks for all the tips. I try to remember to throw some veggie scraps and coffee grounds on top once in awhile and it is in the shade. There's a few holes in the bottom, but the ground is mostly clay. No idea how well it drains. Ground seems thawed. When this rain gives up guess I'll poke...

    Worm Bed Anyone?

When I was a kid my grandparents backyard was the lake. We always had a worm bed, but I also remember hunting night crawlers pretty often. So not so sure we were farming them. Maybe just keeping them handy. Attaching a pic of my meager attempt. Hoping to find it full of big juicy worms, but...

    Worm Bed Anyone?

Decided to get back into fishing and started a worm bed last year. Buried an old recycling bin that is about 2' deep. Our compost bin is full of red worms if you dig down to the bottom so I put a bunch of those in there. We get pretty cold winters here so wondering if the worms will still be...

    Which Side Left???

I get your "drift" Roscoe, but really would rather not make 3 more tags!

    Which Side Left???

I applied to the state of Indiana BMV and obtained a Motor Vehicle ID No. for my home built trailer. Stamped a tag for it, but am not sure where to put it: "MVINs affixed to trailers must be fastened to the left front side of the trailer tongue and be in plain view." Checked my other boat and...

    First Year Electronic Ignition?

I agree it's a last resort type of thing, but sometimes you just aren't going to let that machine beat you. Also that feeling you get when you fix what everyone else says can't be fixed. Next time before digging out the goop, try warming it gently for a few minutes and see what happens. Zero...

    First Year Electronic Ignition?

So if we were to search for say 1980 and newer, would we be looking at mostly solid state ignitions? I'm familiar with the "goop," having recently taken apart an ignition box for a Kawasaki. My understanding is when these get old, the goop shrinks which sometimes pulls the components apart...

    First Year Electronic Ignition?

Thank you all for your input and I have to say you all make good "points." Pun intended! As I've grown a bit older I've noticed that our opinions are all colored through the filter of our past experiences. I've had good luck with points, but have had a bad CD box stop me dead in my tracks a...

    First Year Electronic Ignition?

Doesn't have any real size range in mind. Or year for that matter. He's not sure what he wants. He'd like something to haul his extended family around in and something to fish in. I told him he needs two boats! My own experience with points vs CDI is on motorcycles. I'd much rather troubleshoot...

    First Year Electronic Ignition?

Wow, that long ago. Were all motors breakerless around 1967? Reason I'm asking is a friend is looking for a boat and wants to avoid points. Yeah, I know. Maybe I'm just old school, but I don't mind points. They seem to last pretty long with just a little attention now and then.

    First Year Electronic Ignition?

Like the title says, just wondering in what year Johnny Rude went solid state? Anyone like points better?

Gamefisher 7.5 Grab it or Run?

So this is an Eska? I've heard of them, but never seen one before. Can I get stuff like coils and impellers for this guy? I suppose if I need a prop/hub I'm SOL? I like to mess around with old motors, but not sure if this one is worth my time.

Gamefisher 7.5 Grab it or Run?

So a guy I know wants to swap me this for a set of headers. I didn't give a lot for the headers so I'm up for the deal, but would really like to know who made this motor and if I can get parts for it. He says no ID plate on the motor and it ran when it was used last. 10 years ago. I know it was...

Yamaha 150 ProV? Yay or Nay?

Well that's not what I was hoping to hear, but thanks for clearing that up for me Scott. I suspect though a determined individual with some fabrication skills could make it work maybe? Or is that just more wishful thinking?

Yamaha 150 ProV? Yay or Nay?

I was thinking more about the cables. Will they all just hook right up? I was looking at a couple of my tiller motors today and they have like keyholes in them for cables I think. They look about the same too.
