Green ground ran to gas filler tube?

I wire my boat likes I wire my Ford.........

Green ground ran to gas filler tube?

Me too, there should be NO effect of having the metal tank bonded on a stereo system .............The bonding wiring is a separate run off the batt's neg from ground wiring. Make sure nothing is using the bonding wiring as a ground might be where to start.

Green ground ran to gas filler tube?

It is suppose to be on the filler fitting, yes, not the cap, no. All boats with metal fillers are suppose to have the HOUSING bonded to battery negative.......typically, the metal cap is attached inside the neck by a steel wire.

Green ground ran to gas filler tube?

I think it's fine, OP is mistaken a "bonding" wire for a "ground" wire and calling it such when it is just simply a mouse chewed "bonding" wire......(even if mice chewed the bonding wire, it's not going to cause a "ground issue") So just to be clear...... A "bonding" wire DOES connect to...

    Battery combiner sudden load question

So sticking (mostly) to the questions...... Yes, most definitely!! Might, might not, depending on a few things, but mainly if or if not it has "fold back protection", if so, under(or near) max load, it'll most likely cycle it's output off and on to keep from cooking itself (over current will...

    Adding a 12v DC-AC Inverter

Yes, having a descent size alternator ( I use a 200A heavy duty after market in my Ford PU) not only helps recharge the battery faster, BUT a BIG alt also can share/run load currents during inverter use if you run the motor at same time....This keeps ya from using up the batt charge thus...

    NMEA 2K Tilt/Trim

As far as the Garmin displaying NMEA sensors, I've picked up a Lowrance pressure sensor that is a NMEA device and added to my engine, I then power it and because the Garmin was programmed to read it's sentence protocol, I was able to view/display it's data using my Garmin's NMEA screen...

    Speaker switch?

Revisions to drawing #6 and #8 above, no need for 4PDT switch, a DPDT can be used by just opening one leg (+ or -) of the un-energized speakers circuit path, it will work just as well with less......... Separate returns and wired in parallel and adding stern speakers... Or separate returns...

    Speaker switch?

So radio/head units are just usually 4 channels (Left Front, Right Front, Left Rear and Right Rear) + Sub L & R for the 5th and 6th........Not sure other than the sub L & R's would there be some other isolated 5th and 6th channels? Maybe surrounds? So most likely the Bow speakers have to...

    What's A Drain Wire?

Very much so yes, AND it also prevents outward radiation of it's own signal.

    What's A Drain Wire?

The drain wire (seen here as un-insultated wire ran between foil and shield)is a un-insulated wire that is woven into AND is electrically common with a cable's over wrapping inner foil and outer shield.....Typically, it is electrically tied to the return on the signal source side and is left...

    Stator?

Absolutely right, buyer beware comes to mind esp with some of the Chinese stuff out there, it's a crap shoot. HOWEVER, not always, I bought a set of these over 5 years ago, and before I converted over to Shindengen's rec/reg's, these were still running 100% perfect(left in boat as good for...

    Ground noise after amp install

Congrats!!! and yes, some hiss(self noise), esp. with the amp's gain is max'd is pretty common (SNR). You can quantify this by disconnecting the radio's signal(RCA jacks) and shorting out the all the channels(+ to -) inputs of the amp and max'ing the amps gain settings......Any noise (hiss)...

    Ground noise after amp install

It can also help if you drop the original "Ig switched 12V" that powers the head unit(see attached drawing)...... Breaking this switched ig source 12V at the head unit and use it now to run a relay that in turn creates a local "cleaner switched 12V" that uses a direct path from the batt's (the...

    Sears tachometer

Assume then, the yellow wire that is jumping the two terminal screws must be used to config the tach to match the engine's pulses/rev depending on which screw/s. Seems simple enough, brown to switch box(?), black to ground.

    Sears tachometer

I got nothing.....Is there any other electronic components under the meter movement between the back shell? I can just see a cap.........Seeing the electronic components and their layout relative to the meter movement c/would tell me the wiring scheme. Wondering however and if no other...

    a different stereo/dual switch question

What accessories terminal? On a off/on/both switch? Hmmmm I think D.B. is referring to the output side of terminal #2 (House) if you have a switch/setup like this
