    New Journey

Big hurdle completed! It's amazing how everything starts to fly together once the deck goes in. I'll give it a week to let the 3M5200 set up, lay out the Nautolex, hammer in the side supports with some solids and 5200, and another week of cure time. She should then be ready for hull paint...

180 SS New to the Forums.

I completely understand the thread getting dusty. Recently been trying to blow a bunch off of mine as well. Interested in more information on the new bimini and kicker bracket you went with. Two items I've been contemplating for my build as well.

    New Journey

No, just one. I have two sitting there, one with low compression in one cylinder sitting around 100psi with the rest at 125-130. I'll get the main one running and then see what I can do with the 2nd one. Hoping I can get the compression up and it won't need a rebuild, but will cross that bridge...

    New Journey

I guess I'm a bit overdue for an update. had a little debacle with the paint I had originally planned on using being discontinued, so I had to switch gears and change up my plans. Stripped everything I had originally painted back to bare metal and started over again. Settled on a commercial...

What is the biggest motor my Starcraft will handle?

Very true. I actually had a 35hp mid-80's prop rated Merc on that 15ft. Would push it along at 28-29mph unloaded. I believe the hull was only around 550lbs.

    Starcraft on C-list/ebay!

Looks like an 18ft I/O Nova on a galvanized trailer for a reasonable price: https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/174688558803794/?ref=search&referral_code=null&referral_story_type=post&tracking=browse_serp%3A6f60e918-d17c-4b0c-bcc5-884219a0d189

    New Journey

Just checking in. Slow movement on the MR180 w/ other distractions and obligations, but I started to tear into the old Tower of Power. Fuel pump, carbs, water pump getting some love.

Interested in the brand/model of the 12 gallon tank as I'm looking to replace my dual 6 gallons as well.

    New Journey

I did replace the uprights with stainless bar, and the side mounts/supports with HDPE. Happy to send my originals your way as I have no use for them. Just shoot me a PM and we can discuss.

    1982 MR 180

I would personally stick with aluminum rivets. Stainless for screws, aluminum for rivets. Solids preferred for anything structural, but if you don't have access to the tail end, then you're stuck with closed end blinds. Aluminum will avoid dissimilar metals and assumedly fill the hole better...

    1984 starcraft islander

I've only left mine docked for a few days while on vacation. Bilge pump with float switch wired direct to battery as a minimum, but I'd invest in a boat lift if I planned to do it regularly. Otherwise, I'd plan to keep it on the trailer when not in use. I've also seen some pretty significant...

    1976 22' SUS O/B "Hydration Break"

I set my circular saw at an angle using the old deck angle to set my blade for the long runs. Angled my jig saw in the same manner for the notches around the ribs in the bow.

    1976 22' SUS O/B "Hydration Break"

I've used the wood joiners on all three of my builds, and the same process of doubling the deck with an extra piece of 3/4" ply wherever seat pedestals get mounted. Glued and screwed, and sealed with spar. Make sure to account for the stringer placement if you go this route. Depending on how...

    New Journey

I'm looking at replacing the wooden uprights for my flip flop seat with some aluminum flat bar as shown in the attached pictures. The current wood pieces measures 2" wide and 7/8" thick, assuming teak? If I were to use a 6061 aluminum flat bar, would 2" x 1/2" of similar length be sufficient...
