    Marking Rod Caps

Is it OK to use an electric or air scriber to phisically mark the rods and caps so as to avoid mixing them up. On last rebuild I tried markers and even touch up paint to mark them but found it washed off fairly easily during cleaning rebuilding operations.

    2 cycle oil shelf life

Does 2 cycle oil have a shelf life. I am doing a little clean up in the basement and found I have 6 bottles of Johnson/Evinrude oil that is probably 10 to 15 years old. I would like to use it in my 1990 25 HP Johnson. It has never been opened. Just wondering if I can still use it. What do you think?

    Turning Motor Over Dry

I am wondering if it is alright to turn the flywheel by hand when winterizing after shooting a little fogging oil in the cylinders thru the spark plug holes. I also (perhaps mistakenly) think this clears any water trapped in the impeller vanes avoiding freezing.
