    Stator Screws

    1988 Evinrude 150 XP Reinstalling stator after doing some engine repair. Manual says to use new "Patch Lock Screws." They seem to be unavailable, part number (0512321). Will replacing them with Loctite Thread Locker 242 (blue Loctite) serve the purpose? Anyone know of a downside to Loctite?

    1988 Evinrude 150 XP I have the lower unit removed for water pump impeller replacement. On the shift rod is a rubber grommet. Does the metal side of the grommet go up or down?

    High RPMs on hose adapter

    1988 Evinrude xp 150 Have not had this boat on the water yet. With the engine running on the hose adapter the engine iidles about 1200 RPMs. Is this a little high or will it slow down once in rhe water. I can't hardly start it with the warm up lever up due to the even higher RPMs.
