The iboats forum moderators are excited to announce that at this time it appears the iboats forums posting pictures function is working once again. Though we cannot promise for how long, we're hoping for indefinitely.
I am about to do some testing on my motor at elevation where I fish to find the proper pitch prop that works best for me.
I specifications are rather wide for this motor for WOT in that it states 5000-6000 RPM.
I know that Mercury has a preset point (according to the manual) where it cuts back...
I have a tiny tach on order to check operation of my motor at elevation. I noted a YouTube video where a guy wound the induction wire around both spark plugs rather than just one with no explanation.
Why would you want to do this?
I bought a packaged boat, trailer and motor from Cabela's a couple of weeks ago. While mounting a transducer I was looking at how the boat sits on the trailer and thought it was not right. Shouldn't the boat be sitting on the flat portion of the hull? The pix shows it as delivered.
I have a Lowe 1467WT (14' walk trough hull) with a Mercury 9.9 HP 4 stroke that I got that way on purpose so that I could use it at Rim Lakes here in AZ where many lakes are restricted to 10 HP or less.
The first run with the boat at my local lake was at 5100' and I could only make about 4.5 MPH...
We have a 14' Lowe V hull with a 9.9 motor and electric trolling motor. My wife is thinking she would like a top on the boat but I question installing one on a lighter boat.
Would not the wind tend to blow the boat around a bit? I don't think it would be unstable or dangerous but just wondering.
I bought a new 9.9 Mercury with a Lowe V1467 WT aluminum boat for fishing. The boat weighs in at 262# and is rated for a 20 HP motor max. I picked the 9.9 HP as it allows me to fish lakes in AZ that limit motor size. I live at some 5100' in elevation.
The stock prop had a pitch of 8.5" and with...
I have a Lowe V1467 WT that is 14' V hull and weighs in at 262#. Today I took it out for a break-in and found that it will not go very fast and does not seem to rev up all the way. I am at 5100' as is my local lake I like to fish. I had my wife with me and the total weight on board was about...
I have had more than a few in my time from a kayak to a 24' cuddy. But I really wanted something to fish from in the lakes here in AZ so I purchased what they call a Rim Lakes Package yesterday from Cabelas. Most rim lakes in AZ allow only a 10 HP or less motor. That package consisted of a Lowe...
I am about to pick up a Lowe 1467 WT aluminum boat (14' deep V). Most of the time I figure the boat will carry two people, a 9.9 HP gas motor and maybe another 150 of stuff.
So to make up for wind at the lakes how many # of thrust would you suggest?
I always thought that if you had a gas motor you had to have one. But this is a quote of what they say.
At least one B-1 type Coast Guard-approved hand portable fire extinguisher. Not required on outboard motorboats less than 26 feet long and not carrying passengers for hire if the construction...
I want to buy a lake boat and here in AZ that means less than 10 HP and a 12-14' aluminum boat for me.
The last outboard that I owned was in the early 1980s so I am certainly not up to date on information.
I see that all motors now are 4 stroke and the 10 HP range are all carbureted that I see...
I have noticed that most lakes in my area that allow motors limit you to 10 HP. So if I had a 12-14' aluminum deep V configuration and two people on board with typical fishing gear what kind of speed would I be looking at?
I grew up fishing salt water for stripers as a kid and would love to get back to fishing again. live equal distances from the above larger lakes that I understand have them. If you have fished them an have experience I would like to know the preference.
I understand that Havasu can get crowed...
My wife and I would like to purchase a used 20-24' Cuddy or Cabin Cruiser. Typically they seem to have a 5-5.7 L I/O installed in them. We want something we can spend a few nights on board to make the drive to the larger lakes worth it.
Primary use will be on freshwater lakes in AZ for fishing...
I am looking at the purchase of a early 1970s 14 foot Boston Whaler with a 35 hp Evinrude motor.
But before I have even seen the boat I am being told that with 4 people in the 14 foot boat that the boat would not even make 10 mph on a lake at about 6500 feet. The owner it 1st blamed the...
I am considering the purchase of a 12-16 foot aluminum boat. I see many that have beams that will fit through my gate easily which is around 84 inches so I can keep my HOA happy and still have my garage.
What I cannot seem to find the easily and searching the Internet is the specifications for a...
I am considering purchasing a small aluminum boat, around 14 feet or so. I have only owned one aluminum boat which was a 12 foot deep V design and I think I had a 15 hp motor on it at the time.
The boat will be used on some of the larger bodies of water here in Arizona so I would like some...
I have decided to ad a trolling motor to my Wilderness Ride 115X. I think it would be really nice for trolling.
And it just might save my back getting back in as I already have problems there at age 68.
So how much thrust do I need? Minimal like a 30# do it?
I have as kayak that is fun in the local lake but would like to spend some time on the bigger lakes of AZ.
But that means a longer trip for me and the wife would like to go along.
It's just not worth going for the day so we would spend several days there at a time fishing and enjoying lakes like...
