Looking to replace south bay strainer screws which were in poor condition. My question is should the screws be made of the same metal as the strainer? I believe it is bronze- or would stainless be a better choice since the original screws were compromised. Concerned about electrolysis. Thank you
Appreciate all the advice - the line is a continuous gradual run to the exit point. I will make a better seal at the pump ,it is difficult to see if I am leaking water there -possibly losing pressure to have water exit the boat. To sum up-the pump pushes water through itself exiting at the end...
I have only a little play in hose to cut back to a fresher end- or any opinion about sealing end attached to pump with water proof silicone for a better seal
The pump ran fine when the boat was in the water-on the hard now -problem came up-Impeller looks properly seated and spins with impressive rpm's the outlet is about 4.5 ft. above pump the hose length is about 9 feet.
Disconnected bilge pump from hose .Water runs through pump outlet perfectly .Placed and ran pressurized water in bilge hose-no restriction or leak. Placed hose back on- impeller spins creating noticeable turbulent current in bilge water and a little comes out through bilge hose outlet. A head...
The pump wiring is the same before this issue- the impeller is spinning and there was plenty of water in the bilge. Thankyou for possible causes will take another look tomorrow. regards Andy
I have a Rule 1500 gph which appears to run-The impeller spins like crazy, however no water is being pushed through the bilge hose to exit the boat. When I hit the switch a little shot of water goes out and then nothing. Just looking for some possible issues to investigate. Thank you Andy
I am looking to possibly repower with a new Mercruiser power plant ,unfortunately I invested a fair amount of money in the old engine and wanted to take some parts off for future use, which includes manifolds and risers. My question is how thorough and strict are the requirements in regards to...
The only trial and error I did not attempt and should have was to replace both relays with the exact same company since there are several companies that make this relay. The trial and error concept was on post ten.
It just happened when I was putting it away for winter-The last thing I did was to fog out engine-trim motor is 4 years old and has been working fine until the other day.
The confusion continues-swapped out each relay and documented trim cycle-facing engine block from console I plugged in the original relays I refer to them as o1 and o2 the new relay I will call n1----[o1 and 02 trims up]----[o2 and o1 trims down]----[o1 and n1 trims up]---[n1 and o1 trims...
Long story short-Trim relay is out on down cycle[just clicks]- swapped working relay from up cycle and now down trim works. The challenge now is finding a relay that works. The original is a siemens- so far I have tried a tyco which came in a evinrude johnson package[does not work] next was a...
Putting the boat away for winter-everything done-looking to trim up slightly to raise skeg from driveway and I just now get a clicking noise from the power head-trim down works fine-looking to get my first mate to hit button to get a better isolation of click location. Question- is there a relay...
It is a closed cooling system-one challenge I am experiencing is getting to drain plugs [very tight area] can I just run antifreeze through the sea strainer to winterize all necessary components of the engine. I am in the process of purchasing a manual. Also any advise on fogging the fuel...
