    This prop shaft does not have any bearings. I am suspect that they came from the shifting spline shaft or the drive shaft.

    Yes, pinion gear, the ball bearings were in good shape and so are the gears. The assembly never stopped functioning, it just wasn't holding gear lube. As for the pinion gear? should I be able to work it off with my hand?

    Hello, I have a 1986 90hp Mercury IL6 dies when put into gear. It idles fine, WOT runs great. When I put it into gear I have to throttle up immediately and then throttle down in no wake zones but I cant throttle down too far or it will die. Thanks for your input.

    I would definatly install vents if your fuel tank is covered. Just remember to install one backwards to create an intake.

    You should not have any issues, come to find out that in the manufacturing process a piece of the protective covering got pinched and wedged into the thread area of the nut. I used a pick to get it out. It was not an easy chore.

    Yea, thats what Im thinking, no this is not a new cable, It was attached before I removed the motor to rebuild the transom. Ill go to harbor Freight and get a pick and hook kit.
