    Forgot to mention this is 2150 Bayliner with a fiberglass tank. The fuel filler hose connecting to it is about 1 inch in diameter.     Installed dry without RTV and both surfaces were clean. What I meant to say is the quicksilver gasket has a red bead on it already out of the box. See the attached picture.

    Had the same issue and it takes a few tries of using the cable as a “feeler” to find the hole in the transom. Where I was stuck was at the back of the engine, had to take a pair of needle nose while a friend pushed on the cable to help it make the turn at the engine/y-pipe.
