I had no idea there where were many options these days. I’m clearly living under a rock. Well I guess in my case I’m living on a rock. I don’t get off the island much. I was on a 6 year stretch of not leaving the island when I was forced off for an eye surgery after a pice of welding slag found...

Where were you 25 years ago today.

I went home to pick my mom up and take her to the airport port. She had been on a week long vacation. I walked in and she was watching the news and said a plane crashed into one of the towers. While we were watching the 2nd plane crashed and I knew then this was no accident. I know several...

    Happy Labor Day !!!

I’m not sure if I will even get the boat in the water this year. It will likely be a surf casting fall for me. But that’s fine I’ll take what I can get. There is plenty of good fishing from shore and the derby starts soon. 🎣

    Beautiful Johnson Survivor

There is a guy in my area that rebuilds the older ones and does a great job but lately he’s been sitting on them for a long time. Everybody is moving to the 4 stroke. Sad

1986 Johnson 30hp - Vacuum lines and throttle control rod

Well I it’s time to take a peek at the reeds. A some first test would be to put a pice a of paper in front of the carb while it’s running and see if it spiting fuel back at ya.

When you did the carb do you recall seeing the nozzle gasket? If so did it go back in? If unsure you will see it on a parts page. Have seen a few of these over the years that people leave out thinking they aren’t important.

    stupid question - trailer lights

Changing colors never ends well for the next guy working on it. Can’t say I haven’t done it but I always have colored tape around to mark the end so I don’t have to remember what I did and to try and make it clear to the next guy.

1986 Johnson 30hp - Vacuum lines and throttle control rod

It could be an internal leak. You could try pulling the line that goes to the intake cap It and run it and see if it makes any difference. There are o rings in the primer that can leak and allow a little fuel the pass. Not saying this it it but something to check out.

Maybe the primer it leaking a bit. They have seals that can fail.
