    Just to make sure it's actually coming through the carb and you're not hearing it leak somewhere else. Like Lou said, the intake runners are what's connected to the carb, not the cooling passages. HG could do it. BUT, air in the intake port should = water in the cylinders.

    Hmm. I didn't get that air was coming through the carb, just that OP heard air on the intake side. In which case could still conceivably be a gasket or intake leak, no? But agree that if it's actually in the air intake portion of the manifold. Maybe take the carb off and block it there as well...

    Guess it depends on how fast you can get a new manifold. if you flush with the engine running you're just going to end up with more water in there. Either drain and circulate like AD said or wait till you can get the manifold and then run it. Freshwater, and you've found a leak...I'd repair...

    Was the oil level increased? Might try an oil change and run it on muffs for a while to see if it returns. You can pressure test the system to see where the leak is. Are you in freezing temps? If you don't want to mess with it any more, do as AD says...me, I couldn't sit all winter not knowing...

    The battery replacement thing is a pretty tired talking point now. The batteries are pretty damn good. An engine or transmission failure wouldn't be uncommon at 10 years either. Licensing and fees are highly state dependent and pretty ridiculous.
