Water pump rebuild after 11 years and 600 hours

Idk, nothing on either of those plates look like it would keep the impeller from sealing reasonably well. What would be the catastrophic failure that you'd worry about?

    Need help with steering cable.

I just bought some NOS teleflex 8 and 10' cables on eBay for less than the new Chinese Amazon prices. EDIT: NVM thought we were talking about control cables. Worth a look though EDIT 2: 6 and 8' options on eBay, kits and solo cables

    Can't sync my 2003 25 hp 2 stroke...

So the problem was in fact cable travel, but due to stupid cause. Side mounted controls, and the throttle lever hit the helm at WOT. Wasn't obvious since it went almost all the way. After fixing that I was able to adjust the cable to WOT, and there was still enough travel now to preload lever D...

Yes, but you can use +/- and get the desired behavior, right? Just can't use actual boolean operators?

Drain gas tank to tell where empty is.

One of the many things that I've considered doing is to just splice in a rheostat so that I can in fact fine tune the fuel gauge. I don't rely on it at all though...I track how far I've gone every time I fill up, I get about 4 mpg on a 27 gal tank, never go farther than 80 miles before refueling.

Drain gas tank to tell where empty is.

You bend the arm, if you're feeling frisky you can change the float position.

1997 5.7L thunderbolt ignition. Slow crank

How have you tried to turn it? Are you moving it a teeny tiny bit or are you actually doing it correctly? I'm thinking the former because of the whole "valves aren't moving" comment. 2 rotations of the engine and you would have seen everything moving. Have you checked the oil? Did you disconnect...

1997 5.7L thunderbolt ignition. Slow crank

A truck cam works fine, may need a composite head gasket and brass core plugs, though my 2003 block already had both. Stick with a carb. Your 97 may or may not be a vortec engine. If you got a newer vortec block and combine it with a 4bbl carb that would be a nice upgrade. Otherwise you'd need a...

1997 5.7L thunderbolt ignition. Slow crank

You're looking to see that all the valves are opening/closing, no bent push rods, rockers in place. Turn engine by hand to feel for binding at a particular point, grinding etc. pulling a truck motor and swapping everything should be straight forward but usually a few speed bumps if the vintages...
