    Prop change on my bowrider

I've looked at used listings for those because they are the models suggested by the Mercury prop selector. Those models are probably too new and thus too expensive for me. I'm sure I'll be content with a 10 year old model for half the cost.

    Prop change on my bowrider

Clear up some shopping confusion for me. I've noticed once you get up in the 135+ hp range that "outboard" and "sterndrive" props look exactly the same, with the insert removed. If I can also consider large-outboard props it more than doubles my choices. This observation was also posted here...

    Prop change on my bowrider

All answered in OP except #2 which I don't know.

    Prop change on my bowrider

    This much difference between 3 & 4 blade props seems excessive--and the Mercury prop selector wouldn't appear to agree. It recommends a 14.5 x 21 4-blade OR 14.3 x 21 3-blade for my application.

What is this indicator? (2000 Bayliner)

I'm looking for someone who can tell me how to set/use it. It might be displaying in meters or fathoms for all I know.

    Prop change on my bowrider

My new-to-me 2000 Bayliner Capris 1850 runs and accelerates great but the rpms are too high. The 4.3L carbureted 190hp motor is rated to 4400-4800 rpm at wot. I'm not sure I'm hitting wot because I pull it back a bit when I hit 5000rpm. Current prop is 14.5 x 19 aluminum 3-blade. Looking to try...

What is this indicator? (2000 Bayliner)

While messing with the switch a long beep sounded--like an alarm. I'm not sure if I reset the zero depth or maybe it alarms at a minimum depth you can set. Tells you when to trim up?

What is this indicator? (2000 Bayliner)

This dealer-added switch is in addition to the factory 3-position switch? Most things are wired directly to battery on mine, but the gauges are wired to ignition. They're off when the key is off.

What is this indicator? (2000 Bayliner)

My bowrider has this one digital gauge. It seems to be a depth gauge but the readings don't make much sense. There's a toggle switch labeled "Depth" that has momentary-center-momentary function and I have no idea how it operates. Can someone who's familiar please clue me in?

    I should add a 2nd battery...

I've had one in the back of my suvs for at least 10 years with no issues. I know about the concerns but have had no storage problems.

    I should add a 2nd battery...

I have always run 2 batteries in my pontoon, with a Perko switch. I've never needed the #2. I'm always wondering IF I ever need it will it be ready. I charge & test it fully in the spring before putting it in the boat, then ignore it the rest of the season. I don't have shore power at my dock.

    I should add a 2nd battery...

THIS is my situation. Boat is tied to my dock 200 feet away and has a 1 year old starting battery. No starting problems in the 2 weeks I've owned it. My only concern is the bilge pump running the battery down. The #2 battery could probably be the smallest starting battery available. Or a...

    I should add a 2nd battery...

This can be either very simple or it can get involved. Without getting into the depths of yacht battery banks & charging systems... How have you added a 2nd battery to your small-medium boat, and did you also add the means to automatically keep it charged?

Thank you! That's a refreshing change from "cheap pos Bayliner" I've been hearing.

Fusion radio flaky & freezing up

Zero problems out on the water yesterday. Radio even played thru restarts. I'm considering replacing the el-cheapo fuse block with a better one. What's the opinion on covered/uncovered? Does covered invite trouble by trapping moisture? This boat doesn't sit on a trailer--it stays in the water...

I'm not ready to put this in the "Success" column. I'm hopeful.

Fusion radio flaky & freezing up

So what I did today was this: I hooked a long wire to the battery and measured the voltage drop on the + wire and the - wire... end to end. It was about 15mA on one and 2x that on the other... Radio playing at lowish volume. That seemed normal for a ~12 foot run. Connections at the battery were...

Fusion radio flaky & freezing up
