    Johnson stops dead!

I watched a few videos about removing the flywheel and it does not actually look too hard to accomplish to replace the coils under it. The videos I watched did not show anything about a stator on any of them. Does my motor have a stator on it? It is a conversion from a tiller to a remote motor...

    Johnson stops dead!

So, I am assuming that Sierra is a pretty decent brand to purchase. I usually buy Sierra parts since I tried some Chines parts a few years back and learned about them Chinese parts really quick. Never again! Never had any problems at all with Sierra. Thanks.

    Johnson stops dead!

The coils checked out on line look like they are plenty cheap enough to replace as well as my power pack. I want to change the power pack by itself first to see if that is what caused my problem of the motor just shutting off like someone turned off the key. Did ot bog down or start missing or...

    Johnson stops dead!

Yep, I bought a Chinese carb kit a few years ago and it was garbage. Ordered OEM a few days after I put the Chinese parts in and what a difference it made! I hope Sierra is not a Chinese brand , but I never had a problem with Sierra.

    Johnson stops dead!

I ordered the power pack today from Amazon and it will be here tomorrow morning between 4 and 8 A.M., so to get it before Monday, it costed me a few bucks extra. Total with taxes & free delivery was $48.75. The brand is Sierra, part #113-2453 and it is a new one, not used, States it will...

    Johnson stops dead!

Thanks to all of you guys! I think I am going to get a new water pump for sure because I do not know tha age of the current one anyway, AND for the cheap price, I am going to switch out the power pack as the current one is most likely the original one, and they are pretty cheap ($43.00)for a...

    Johnson stops dead!

There may be a part number on the bottom of it. May be able to see one when I remove the old one, jonesg. Saltchuckmatt, I saw the same one on line for a price of $43.00 and that is a new one. Free delivery too, and the same part number that you listed here, so I think i will order that one...

    Johnson stops dead!

O.K. Guys. The engine did not overheat from the way it felt to my hand when she quit yesterday. I do not know how old the current pump is in it, but seller told me the pump was just renewed before I bought the boat last fall. Current compression is 105 on top, 112 on bottom cylinder. I want...

    Johnson stops dead!

I am going to get a new impeller installed. I don't know how old the current one is, but it does seem fine but maybe it is not.

    Johnson stops dead!

No alarm on it that I know of. I t was a tiller converted by someone in the past to remote. Really great condition up until this happened today. Took cover off and motor was not real hot to the touch, so I do not think it overheated, but it may be possible I suppose as I do not know too much...

    Johnson stops dead!

I am having another problem with my 35 H.P. 1983 Johnson. I do not know the model or serial number. It has been running great all this year until today. While going at wide open throttle today, the motor just flat out quit as though the kill switch was shut off (which it does not have). The...

    Leak in aluminum boat

Final update 07-03-2024. I took the boat out and there are still a few very small leaks but not the rivets that I sprayed with the Flex Seal. There are some small leaks at some rivets that are nowhere near the stern, but they look like the rivets that are holding the main aluminum strip...

    Leak in aluminum boat

Well guys, I have got some results here for my repair of my leak. I promised I would report my results. I used Flex Seal in a spray can. I got two cans of it from an online store for the price of one can, so I figured I would try it out. I cleaned the seam along the inside and the outside...

    Leak in aluminum boat

I am going to do this hopefully tomorrow or Wednesday when I have a buddy available to give me a hand with it. The only problem I have with this is that the leak actually appears to be coming from the rivets that are inside a brace that is going up the stern at an angle from the floor. Looks...

    Leak in aluminum boat

Thanks. I will look into the leak stopper art Home Depot. I can try re-bucking the rivets that I can get to. There is one support bracket supporting the transom right in the center that I cannot get to the rivets unless I remove that support bracket by removing all of the rivets on it going...

    Leak in aluminum boat

I am interested in more info about the torch wax. Can you give me anything more about this product? Just a brand name maybe? Thank you.

    Leak in aluminum boat

Just looking at it without doing any wire brushing or scaping at all, I do not see any damage (dent, knicks or bumps) nor do I even see a rivet or two that looks loose at all. Everything looks real good except the water seeping in when I board the boat. There is a small opening somewhere...

    Leak in aluminum boat

Hi again, I wrote in the past about a water leak problem I was having in my aluminum boat, and because I have some new information on the situation, I figured I would start a new thread here. I finally found the leak. It is in the very center of the boat along the back wall, right where the...

    Finding a leak???

Thanks for all of the input. I may end up taking the floor up, but first, I will try to find the leak by #1- Fill the boat with water then raise and lower the front end to see if I can locate it this way. #2- Try to let my grandson drive the boat in a calm bay and I can look under the floor...
