    Fuel line problem

Thanks for your input, however, as I sated in post #4, I did add in inline filter to the fuel line already for the reasons that you mentioned.

    Fuel line problem

Thanks for the suggestion of what to look out for, however, I had a very close, good view of the inside of the empty tank when we filtered the gas into a separate gas tank. The gas tank I have on the boat is red plastic, and I can see very well into it thru the filler hole when it was empty...

    Fuel line problem

Thanks to both of you guys. I am all set now I believe. I have replaced the fuel line coming out of the tank, checked the pickup tube and filter at the end of it (like new), & the fitting on the tank (like new), filtered the fuel into another tank (it was clean, nothing in it except 2 cycle...

    Fuel line problem

I have a 1983 35 H.P. Johnson outboard motor. Today was the first time I used it on my aluminum 14 boat. It started great, ran perfect and I was getting a good speed at about 3/4 throttle. It was running perfect and all of a sudden the motor just quit!! The primer ball was sucked 100%...

    1983 Johnson 35 H.P.

I picked up some new cables today. They are 12 footers & that's what I need rounded up to give me a nice clean loop. It is the one lever type control box. No trim switch involved. I took one apart years ago and I might just try it again. I just am not sure of the motor end as I do not want to...

    1983 Johnson 35 H.P.

Yes, There is a HUGE loop in the cables and they are in the way right now actually. I think they are probably about a 16 or even 18 feet long. I don't know why the previous owner used cables this long but I got some 12 footers today which will be the right size. EDIT: There WAS a huge loop...

    1983 Johnson 35 H.P.

Hello again, I am going to get the control cables for my remote box to the motor replaced. I have a side console with remote throttle and gear cables, side wall mounted control box. I currently have very long (too long) cables on the boat that I purchased, and I am going to pick up a new...

    1991 Johnson

I originally inquired about a problem with my starter not engaging in post #1. Next I found out that I do not have a 1991 motor but I have a 1983 motor. Thanks for all that helped me out on both counts. My starter is working great on a new battery (and I even bought a second new one as a spare...

Yes, I would take the law into my own hands, then I would be going to jail for knocking the snot out of a guy that stole some ones motor and sold it to me, while he gets 90 days probation and I sit in jail for 18- 24 months. Isn't that the way the law works? LOL

Yep, If I check with the police & it was stolen, there goes my motor, eh? Nice fish you caught yesterday.

I do not think it would start with a rope if it is cold, would it? edit: I never tried it on anything over my 8 H.P. motors that I've had 'cuz I never thought that I would get enough revs by putting the rope around the flywheel and pulling it, but maybe it will start fairly EZ?

I'm gonna try and post some pictures here of the motor without the cover on it. Did it!!!!!

    1991 Johnson

On the inside of the cowling, there is an "emergency" rope coiled up in a plastic pouch at the top of the cover so I can start it with the rope tied around the top of the flywheel I suppose, but I do not think I would be able to crank it enough to get it going if my batteries quit on me. Could...

I don't know why they are that long. I bought the boat in November las year. Stored it in a garage for the Mich. winter & just now getting her ready to go out on the lake next Saturday. The cowling in the picture that I posted is not on the motor correctly. I do not have the front clip in...

I will be ordering the kit tomorrow. I am going to order the kit for a 1983, 35 H.P. Looks like the same kit will work for many model numbers, and for a 25-30 & 35 H.P. if I am looking at things right.

I think I finally was able to post one picture of my 1983 Johnson. I will try a second picture here too. Hope it finally shows up on the site. After I logged in again, it looks like I did get one picture of my motor to post. Don't know how I did it, but it looks like I did it! LOL I...
