Major flooding in CT August 18th, marina destroyed

I was waiting for the photo issue to get resolved before posting this. Not sure how many of you all are in this area but we had unprecedented rainfall over the course of 24 hours on August 18th in the Oxford, Sandy Hook area of Connecticut. Tiny stream turned into massive rivers for 12 hours...

Not a good sign, mystery gasket

Was just finishing up torquing the last bolt on my gen 2 after all this years maintenance and I saw something that made me head hurt. Can anyone identify this gasket? I just finished doing the bellows, checking the gimbal and alignment, and impeller maintenance. I don't recognize this from...

If I were you, I might go back to the seller if this boat was listed and sold to you as having a working engine. Yes, you should have checked everything before you bought, as you said. He's under no obligation to give you your money back but that doesnt mean you can't confront him...

Trim issues, torn wires, many mistakes

Mercruiser 3.0, 1999 1999 Regal 1800 LSR Hi folks. Looking for some insight that goes beyond DIY youtube and manuels. At the end of last season, trim was working as expected. Second to last run, a stick got caught inbetween the wires of my trim sending unit (starboard puck) and ripped them...

Trim will go up but not down

I had the same issue, @H20Rat is correct. My wire was rubbing against a screw head around the shifter area and was grounding out depending on the adjustment of the throttle. It had stripped the coating away and was bare copper in one spot. Easy fix.

    Trim sender vs stick

Last ride before pulling the boat out of the marina for the season, noticed my trim gauge died. After putting it on the trailer, saw that a stick had gotten caught and ripped one of the wires off my trim sender. Im guessing that the sender itself is still fine, as well as the connection within...

What did you do to your boat today?

Went to the marina and had some drinks on the beach with the wife and watched the kids paddleboard. Made sure the cover is on tight, looking at a week straight of rain / cold weather.

Whats your system for dockside mooring covers

Question about how all you guys handle mooring covers dockside. I have a 99 Regal 1800 that I’m going to keep slipped for the first time this coming year. Previous years I kept it on the trailer and (with the original snap canvas covers not being water proof anymore) I was able to throw a cover...

First time cleaning a carb, ruined the jets?

Used a multi tool to cut a new slot in the mangled pump assembly screw, came out out easily after that. Then used a hammer to rap the screwdriver a couple times before taking the last jet out.

First time cleaning a carb, ruined the jets?

Made the mistake of trying to juggle the kids homework at the same time of tear down my mercarb 2 barrel last night. Slightly wrong sized flathead and not paying full attention caused me to mangle the brass pretty good. These pictures were after just two slips, freaking brass. The rebuild kit...

    Boat accident at dusk

Update to this situation.... the owner of the other boat has now recanted, telling insurance that he saw no lights on my vessel before striking me. The liability for the claim is still open (this is over 2 months now), as the insurance company has still not received any communication back from...
