    question about stringer replacement

I am getting ready to replace stringers on a 78 glastron hpv-175. I've 90% of the info I need right here but have two questions, one easy one hard. First the easy, what is the best way to deal with the drain tubes that go through the transom? It seems they need to come out to split the hull. Now...

Has anybody found an acceptable substitute for the evinrude gold that has long since been discontinued? Even tempo doesn't carry it anymore. Thanks

    Please help-- WHAT IS IT?

Just got my first project boat, all the important stuff is solid. I would really like to know who made it though. I am believing that the deeper midsection of the trihull will make it better riding. Since it has a 69 motor, it probably was made around then, no HIN or coast guard plate to help...

    floor question

got my first project boat. Been reading up here, lots of good info, it seems there is a direct relation between the floor and the stringers. If the floor is soft, it is presumed the stringers are bad also correct? If the floor is solid is it presumed the strtingers are O.K. ? Thanks

    can't find the right place

Sorry, can't find the right place to post this, but, I've got a 69 evinrude 115 hp with the electric shift that I need to replace the throttle cable. How do I convert the old evinrude part numbers to a new replacement? The evinrude numbers start with 377*** and I'm finding OMC replacements...

    water deflectors

I've been reading a lot here about water deflectors going bad. I've got a 69 evinrude 115, model 115983e. I think I've looked at every parts diagram there is and can't seem to find one on mine. Is this possible or am I looking in the wrong place?

    running on cuffs

I was wondering, do the larger motors ( over 100 hp) not like running on cuffs, do they prefer running in tanks for better flow?

    69 evinrude 115 overheating?

I have a 69 evinrude 115 that hadn't run in seven years so I replaced the impeller, rebuilt the carbs, and even put in a new thermostat (vernatherm). When I ran it for the first time, on cuffs, at idle it got warm enough that I couldn't hold my hand on either head for a ten count and still no...

    evinrude vs johnson parts

I know OMC made both evinrude and johnson motors. Do parts lists show OMC part numbers? It appears they share parts. I have a 69 115 evinrude and have a chance to pick up a 69 johnson 85 hp parts motor which could yield a large number of parts for my 115.

    winterizing an outboard

Here in the midwest, the boating season is closing in and I was wondering what is considered the right way to winterize an outboard for the winter that will see freezing temps? I know about fogging the cylinders, do you some how get the water out of it or not worry about it?

I have experience with smaller twin cylinder motors, am working on my first older v4. What exactly is meant by link and sync? Does it need special tools? Can I do it myself?

    69 evinrude green

I am restoring a 69 115 hp which will end up with a new paint job. I am trying to find the correct green that was used but nobody seems to know evinrude had a green. Since these also came off the same lines as the johnsons, is it possible this green is a johnson color?

    69 evinrude 115hp

I am restoring a 115hp 115983e, the biggest problem I am having is with the steel bolts in the aluminum after 40 years. Is soaking in PB blaster the only real amswer? Also, if I don't mess with the linkages, do I still need to sync the carbs?

    waking up 69 115hp

First, I'd like to thank everybody for making this the great forum it is. I have a 69 115hp I'm waking up after 7 years of sleep, done the impeller, rebuilt the carbs, want to do the thermostat ( vernatherm). If I don't want to drill holes, is the only way to change it by lifting the powerhead...
