    bow blisters

I finally got the bottom paint off of my old thunderbird using citri strip to control the toxics, the first two feet or so of the bow below the waterline has a slew of tiny stress cracks (no longer than 1/2") and each one appears to have what looks like a small blister in the gelcoat. Is this...

    correct wheels for ez-loader

I have a 70's vintage ez-loader that the previous owner had 14" wheels on. My concern is there is a "u" shaped tube at the rear that I believe is for attaching a transom saver to that has only about 6" clearance to the ground. Is this correct or should there be 15" wheels on this thing?

    generic prop question

I am looking for a new prop for my 69 evinrude 115 and finding something intersting, as the pitch goes down, the diameter goes up. Doesn't this have the effect of moving the same amount of water?

    replacing evinrude tach

I'm not sure if this belongs here or restoration but, I've got a 69 evinrude 115hp on my thunderbird restoration and I need to replace the tach. The only one I've found so far that looks near original is off a 72 johnson 125. Does anybody know if this tach will work on my older motor? Thanks in...

    new pressure treated screws

I'm collecting materials to start my rebuild. I planned on using pressure treated but I am only finding the new acq stuff. I know it eats most screws, but I've seen screws that are supposed to be treated to stand up to the acq wood. Has anybody used them or know anything about them. Thanks

    layers of glass

First off, happy holidays to all of you generous folks out there without whom there'd be a lot of struggling folks. I'm trying to be clear on the number of layers of 'glass over my stringers. If I read correctly, you all are doing one layer of 1 1/2 oz mat first then one layer of roving over it...

    boat value?

I am looking to get the insurance up on my thunderbird and was wondering how to value a boat and motor that has fallen off nada's list. '69 evinrude 115 hp on a '70 thunderbird apache 18'. I realize location affects value, here in the midwest I am guessing to be in the middle range. Thanks in...

    adding tilt/trim

I'm considering adding tilt/trim to my '69 evinrude 115 hp. Do I need to search for a unit from '69, or is there a range of years that fit? As much as I'd to keep original, is there a generic unit? Thanks

    trailer setup

I'm in the middle of restoring an 18' thunderbird airslot on an ez-loader roller trailer and am puzzled if the trailer is setup correctly. Right now the stern overhangs the trailer by almost 18". Right now tongue weight is 170 which leaves me room if the boat really needs to move forward.

    question about peanut butter

I've search the threads and I'm not sure I understand, when you make up peanut butter to set stringers is everybody just using the resins that are used for lay up and adding the cabosil and chopped mat?

    why not pressure treated?

I am getting ready to reinstall my stringers and deck. I have seen a lot of discussion about materials and have noticed there seems to be a large group against pressure treated. Will there be an unwanted reaction with the resins? Will the resins not adhere to pressure treated? Thanks in advance

    finally got the deck off

Started lookind deeper at the thunderbird cathedral hull I got, lo and behold, what appeared to be a solid deck turned out to be a second layer over a totally mushy first. Just a couple of questions since this is my first rebuild. Is it normal for the stringers to be totally glassed in? Should I...

This way you can customize your colors. Unfortunately iboats doesn't carry all of the colors interlux offers...
