    Engine oil synthetic?

    My 1987 mercruiser 260hp V8 5.7L calls for 25W-40 full synthetic oil. But in my engine it has regular oil in it. Mercury said to use synthetic but the local marina said use regular cause it might screw stuff up inside if it's mixed. Opinions?

    I found this Volvo Penta outboard. It says sail 90 on the side it's on the smaller side (between 9 & 20hp) and it's a long shaft. I don't know anything else about the motor. I know Volvo penta makes stern drives and inboards. Anyone know about this weird outboard?

    Mercruiser carburetor rebuild or replace?

    My 1986 mercruiser 260hp 350 V8 needs a carb rebuild. It has a Rochester Quadrajet 4BBL carb. I've heard that the quadrajets are very complicated to rebuild. So should i take on the rebuild or get a used Holley or edelbrock carb? If I get a different carb which one do I get?
