    1990ish Evinrude 6hp not idling

yes sounds like it's running out of fuel. when was the motor last run? as mentioned above, the carb is a big culprit. the float needle could be gummed up, which means its only using the tiny bit of fuel it can get from the fuel in the idle circuit.

    1982 Evinrude 7.5 E8RCNR

fyi its part # 392968. its such a simple switch, you could easily repair yours if possible, or get a cheap replacement aftermarket for $10. just grounds out the ignition simple as wrapping 2 leads together.

Manual tilt assist cable seems non-replaceable, 1996 Johnson 50

was talking about the junction boxes. im well aware the larger ones won't fit!

    1984 50hp won’t idle without primer

that is my sentiment exactly. those chinese ones are so crappy it isnt worth saving $15. new kits are only $20-$25 each. not a spot you want to start skimping!

Manual tilt assist cable seems non-replaceable, 1996 Johnson 50

i'd hunt for a complete integral trim assembly. you will need a junction box/relay system. i'm sure you could use one from the 3 cyl motors, or even the v4/v6 crossflow.

    6 hp Evinrude flooding

i was sort of kidding. if it runs fine, i can't imagine anything goes in there. it's probably just a metering hole of some sort. if racer says its fine, you should be good to go. didn't mean to alarm you! but i'm pretty sure there are 4 lead pieces in that one. 2 at the rear on either side , one...

Suzuki dt65 years of parts compatibility

sweet. yeah i had one like that... guy thought the powerhead was seized. but i could rock the flywheel about 1/8'', so that was enough confirmation it was the lower. pulled the powerhead and she spins like new.

Suzuki dt65 years of parts compatibility

i happen to know the lower units won't fit. they changed a few things in the early 90's motors. might just be shift rod related, or worse like different splines .

    '89 Johnson 60HP overheating

    1998 90HP Evinrude Problems!

going back to your older post: Sunbirds, especially the early ones, were nearly throwaway boats OMC made to get their motors sold as a package. lots of pine wood used in them up until1996 or so. if your seat has rot around it, I can almost guarantee the whole floor needs to come out and re-do...

    '89 Johnson 60HP overheating

thats it. yea getting that metal one out was a real project. these motors run warm at a slow idle, like lots of them. i guess thats why the manual says to measure head temps around 800 rpm to get some water up there

Best Method for loosening stuck bolts.

i beleive i had mentioned "free-all" in another post. i know, sounds stupid as most guys have a product they stick with, but that stuff is incredible. they key is it literally dissolves rust/oxidation over night, then heat the crap out of it, whack it a few times, get one of those reverse-thread...

    '89 Johnson 60HP overheating

there was a service bulletin about this very scenario. the original seat had a metal rim, the newer ones i thought didn't, or i might have that backwards but it was an issue until they came out with the newer one. did one last summer but can't recall exactly. just bringing it to your attention.

Etec 40hp-60hp powerhead swap onto carburated midsection ?

Examining the adapter gaskets, and was hoping someone could confirm that an etec 40-60hp powerhead will fit on the older midections (1989-2005). the driveshaft looks the same (i believe 92 and up was fine spline on the carbed motors). this project has intrigued me for a while, as etec powerheads...

1984 johnson 90hp carb leaking fuel out air cleaner

that sealer should be non-hardening so you have plenty of time, but is that brp sealer or permatex aviation stuff?
