    2005 115 4 stroke - won't crank, neutral start issue?

    Okay - my shift control box does not have a neutral switch in it. I shorted the lead on the harness, now I am in business. I'm thinking the neutral safety mounted in the motor should be sufficient to prevent starting the motor in gear. Is that correct?

    Just kind of wondering what I have for deck here. Anyone pulled one of these apart? Am I going to run into anything if I cut an 8" hatch under my center console to install these backing plates? Thanks.

    got the markings on the crank. Ordered the appropriate center main bearings and the #1 rod bearings. Got it all together and is spinning like a top. Going to mount it next week. Thanks for the guidance

    Trying to bring this back to life for Lobster season. Repowering to a 2005 Merc 115HP 4 stroke and want to put a t-top on. Found a nice t-top locally. Was looking at putting in backing plates for this. Anyone have any alternatives or recommendations on the process? Thanks

    seeing there is stamping on the crank and case to tell what bearings are to be used. Can I get by with changing the damaged bearings or do I have to do them all?

    I am seeing some WSM green bearings on ebay. What do you think about just replacing the #1 rod bearing, checking all the tolerances and going for it?

    There is a table that gives difference clearances for different colored journal bearings. So, as I read it, because I have green journal bearings, I need green clearances (as listed in the table). If I am out of tolerance, it does not say to change colors, it says to get a new crank.

    Okay - serious rod knock. Had a hole in my exhaust jacket. Water in my oil. Messed up #1 connecting rod journal bearing. Machine shop says the crank is good and to just put in "standard" bearings, but I can't just replace the #1 inner and outer rod bearing. I need to do the whole set...

    Have to be 180. Everything was lined up. I had an inline fuel bulb pump. Might have been a little over zealous.
