Bow U bolt Eye Tie Down Repair Question on a 20' Bowrider.

That stop sign metal bar shown above didn't fit, it was too deep, and i ran out of threads on the u bolt. So back to the drawing board. I may just get a good piece of flat metal bar, and paint it a few times w Rust-Oleum.

Bow U bolt Eye Tie Down Repair Question on a 20' Bowrider.

I'm using a 6" piece of a metal city stop sign pole. It's perfect, and free. 😁🤪😁. The original piece that was in there, was a 3" piece of metal.

This happened today, and in the blistering heat.

The nuts rotted and busted right off. There was remaining threads from the nut on the bolts. That black gook is old silicone.

Luckily I had a Harbor Freight 8 Ton Barrel Jack and some good pieces of wood blocks in my truck, to get it lifted off the ground.

I agree, no wood. I'm going to use metal angle iron, I'll also inject the areas with 4200 and use SS nuts this time.

Bow U bolt Eye Tie Down Repair Question on a 20' Bowrider.

I just found there was a kickplate panel that I pulled out rather easily, photos below. It appears there is no damage to the U bolt area (inside the boat). I'm able to use the original u bolt again, and I'm gonna use SS nuts and 3M 4200.

This happened today, and in the blistering heat.

When I looked closely at the u bolt before, I noticed there were pieces of nut threads on the ends of the u bolt, so I'm assuming the bolts rotted out. It would of been great if they used stainless, but obviously they didn't.

Bow U bolt Eye Tie Down Repair Question on a 20' Bowrider.

I need to replace the Bow Eye U Bolt on my boat, as it pulled straight out cleanly during an epic failed launch (see link below) and the boat flew off the trailer and was literally dry docked, going into the boat launch. It missed the water by 20 feet...

If your talking about where the actual eyelit was connected to, I'm not sure yet, I will assess it today.

I didn't see any nuts on the end of that eyelit. Maybe they forgot to put them on from the factory. Who knows. There was lotsa silicon on the eyelit bolt part. I'll check it tomorrow. I'm in recovery now, aspirin, and water. 🤪😜🥴

No failure. It was all good,,, so far. I floated the boat for 30 min.

Bought my first boat to cut, gut and rebuild from bow to stern, including engine. Killed my back and suffered the wrath of the fiberglass demons

@Scott Danforth I recently purchased a gallon of Total Boat Polyester Resin with the MEKP for $35 on Amazon, it took about 7 days for delivery.

Acorn anode rubber washer for the lower aluminum bolts.

I only got one washer per each anode. It's good now with the 3M 4200.
