Fuel Injector Boat vs. Auto Equivalent

What's the consensus on using the automotive equivalent of fuel injectors on boats? I looked up the price for injectors (Merc #885176) for my 6.2 MPI and of course my draw dropped. What would be the automotive equivalent to this injector?

    Diacom engine parameters

I called Rinda. For the ECM/PCM-555, you have to read the fault history to get the engine hours along with the breakdown of hours/rpm range.

    Faulty IAC or something else

Got caught up in some business travel....catching up on this issue. I will take a look at the TB, however, I did go out on the boat over the weekend and it ran fine....no in gear/idle stalling or stinky exhaust smell. I guess I'll just keep an eye on things as the season goes on.

    Diacom engine parameters

I purchased the Diacom software but I don't see "engine hours" on the list displayed. Is there a way to see this bit of info.

    Faulty IAC or something else

To continue my investigations, the duty cycle started to act differently this time around and there was no real smell of rich exhaust this time. Run #1 -Engine at temperature -RPM 550-580ish -Removed the air hose between the throttle body and IAC and RPMs jumped closer to 600. I guess this...

    Faulty IAC or something else

I don't see injector pulse time on the parameter list. Fuel pressure settles to around 40 psi once the pump finishes priming. Sits around 48 psi at idle and around 45 psi @ 1000 rpms. I'm running on muffs so I'm not sure if I can go as high as 1800 rpm.

    Faulty IAC or something else

Looking at the system info the engine may be a 2004. "04MY 6.2L BRAVO"

    Faulty IAC or something else

I guess my signature is not showing....I have 2005 Merc MX 6.2L MPI with B3 with the ECM-555. Serial number starts with 0W061xxx. I don't see Injector pulse listed as a parameter. I need to pick a fuel press gauge to see what's going on there so that will be next.

    Faulty IAC or something else

Not sure what you mean by all my testing is correct. Are you saying that the assumption of a bad IAC is correct?

    Faulty IAC or something else

I had some intermittent stalling issues at idle in gear and some rich smelling exhaust. Running on plane, boat behaved great. I got me the Diacom software and plugged in to see what was going on. Everything but the IAC duty cycle seemed fine. BTW, all testing done running on muffs. With the...

Merc 6.2L MPI low idle, rich and stalling....trying to put it all together

I have a 2005 6.2L MPI with Bravo 3 and took the boat out over the weekend for the first run of the season. I had a couple instances of the engine stalling out while in gear at idle. It started back up each time with no problems. Other than these few stalls, it ran just fine. I think it may...

    opinions ---hub temps

Are there brakes on the trailer? If you have disc brakes, it's possible the calipers are sticking. I just completed a 300 mile run....on the way to, hubs were running upper 110's with mid 80's air temp....on the way back, hubs were running lower-mid 120's with mid 90's air temp. To date, the...

Dual battery setup (batt 1 & 2 or engine & house)

I have the batt 1 & 2 setup (On, 1, 2, both) and I was curious about any pros/cons to this setup versus a setup with a dedicated engine and house batt where you could use the batt switch and ACR from Blue Sea. I've thought about converting over the Blue Sea system to keep the house circuit on...

I think this means water intrusion

I still need to do a pressure test, but for discussion purposes, if I were to find a leak in the lower unit on the drive shaft, what seals/o-rings would need to be replaced. For example, looking at the parts diagram #40 (o-ring) and #42 (oil seal), would both of those get replaced? I see other...

I think this means water intrusion

Unfortunately I've already discarded the old oil. I just remembered, since I just got the last year, when I changed the gear lube, it was a brownish colored lube and it looked clean in the sense it was a solid brownish color. I'm wondering if the color I'm seeing now is the greenish lube mixing...

I think this means water intrusion

Did my winterization dance today  Seeing the color of the gear oil makes me think I've got a water intrusion problem. What should be the next step? Pressure test it? Just replace the seals? Or does the drive need to be pulled apart to check for any internal damage?

    How to address rusting hinge

Thanks. Is it better to remove the hinge? Is the cleaner gel coat friendly?
