Had made that Journey several dozen times, however for some reason I decided to put the Kicker on. Good thing I did, as the...

    Kicker Motor

Nothing like having to carry a Portable Tank along if it is a 2 stroke. Maybe with a 4 Stroke Kicker, you could tap into the Boats Fuel line

Would Evinrude fit on Johnson 150 base?

Comparing the Part Lists, the Exhaust Megaphone(Tuner) is different between the 79 200, and the 84 150. Unless the Megaphone is swapped too, Power and Fuel Economy could be affected

Those pits will also likely fill with Carbon, creating Hot Spots leading to Detonation, which I suspect had something to do with the last Ring Failing. I suspect that this engine has had this Dance before

1990 Force outboard 230ho removed upper bearing by cutting and left a crease need advice

In my Opinion, that Crank is strictly a Paperweight now. Having it welded, machined, and treated, will cost more than a new replacement

When you reinstalled the Carbs, did you do a Link and Sync? Not only do both carbs have to be fully closed at Idle, but they both have to open at the same Time and equally, plus be in Sync with the Timing Advance.

Wondering if I can add power trim to my 82 mercury

When you have the Water Jacket Cover off, check it for Warpage. If it is, a new Gasket will also leak in short order. In regards to the Power Trim... Here is a pic showing the 35hp(rerated 40 back in 84) and the 50hp. The 50 uses a different Yoke and Transom Brackets that do have provision for...

Wondering if I can add power trim to my 82 mercury

I don't think there was a Power Trim System for the 2 cylinder 40hp. The Steering Yoke was different from the 50hp

The OP omitted to mention that BRP also got OMCs Problem Child, the FICHT. They tweaked it a bit and renamed it 'E-TEC.
