    Boat Disposal

Thanks for the ideas boat bros. Man that video cracked me up! Nice work. So I have an angle grinder and a sawzall. I'm guessing the sawzall will be the weapon of choice If I have to cut it up? If it cuts up easy enough I'll just drag the pieces to the curb. Is this a dust mask job or full...

    Boat Disposal

Maybe I'm nuts, but plan to buy a boat for small money just because I want the motor. 12' glass boat with no title I want rid of. Suggestions?

    Upholstery Work?

Wow, these prices are way up there. I suspected as much. Thinking I'm going to have to have a go at this. Where is the best place to buy marine vinyl and what happens if I just use regular vinyl and keep it out of the sun and elements? I'm not sure either of the boats I have are going to be...

    Mystery Part - Help!

Well crap. I now know where it goes, but don't know if can put it back without tearing into it. Guess I may be on my own here, but any ideas? It seems the two retainers each have two tabs that fit into a pair of flutes in the shaft. They are held in place by two washers that slide down over the...

    Mystery Part - Help!

Thanks guys, I'm figuring it out. There is another one like it, but it's at the very top of the stack in pic #2 and hard to make out. The bottom seems identical except the retainer is missing. You can't really see it until you move some stuff around. I just don't get what holds it in place and...

    Upholstery Work?

I keep finding boats that seem pretty decent except the upholstery is shot. Just wondering how costly it is to get this kind of stuff fixed. I mean is it a few hundred or thousands? Is a boat with an open bow and vinyl down the sides even worth considering? Also anybody here do their own...

    Mystery Part - Help!

OK cool, I gotta go see if it will fit back in there. Sure glad I didn't lose it. It just sort of floats in there then and not attached in any way?

    Mystery Part - Help!

Found this half ring thing lying on garage floor near where was working on the gear housing yesterday. Did it fall out??? Can't figure out where it goes. For '66 McCulloch 14.....maybe?

    McCulloch Leaking Filter Bowl

Thanks Airshot, that actually does make me feel better and was already thinking along the same lines. Funny thing is, even after sitting for at least a few years it wasn't leaking. It was fine until I took it apart. What do you think about using some Tack It or High Tack on another cork gasket...

    McCulloch Leaking Filter Bowl

As far as I know it was sealing. I took it apart before I ever had it running, but it wasn't leaking while I was trying to start it. Thanks for that link buddy! That looks like what I need. Just wonder if it's the correct size and whether or not the ethanol will kill it.

    McCulloch Leaking Filter Bowl

This is on the fuel pump not the carb and there is no groove. Just a little ledge that goes around the circumference. It didn't come with an O ring. I'm just thinking of trying one because nothing else has worked. Open to any suggestions. Including glopping it up with some type of sealer. I...

    Nasty Lube

It was just the paper gasket that went bad. Cut a new a new one so it shouldn't leak. Hate to waste the grease with the run and drain. This is just my spare motor. Won't see a lot of use. Would it really hurt it to just refill with fresh grease? Will it push the crap out the top maybe? Can I...

    Fish Finders

Is a small screen going to drive me nuts? Seems like that's the major price difference. As the screens get bigger so do the price tags. I know they also have more features, but I see big price jumps that seem to go along with screen size.

    McCulloch Leaking Filter Bowl

OD is 1 1/2" ID is a bit fluid. There is about an 1/8" lip/ledge with a screen in the middle. As long as it fits in the housing and doesn't cover up much of the screen I think all is well. ID measured out at 1 5/16", but think the "ledge" around the outside of screen could support a 1 1/4" ID...

    Nasty Lube

Knew had a leak in the lower unit, but only ran this guy about an hour last year before getting my Fastwin. Quick question and pardon me if this is the wrong forum, but it's not motor specific. I drained the grease and man what a yucky mess. Milky and kinda clinging to everything. Is it OK to...

    McCulloch Leaking Filter Bowl

The 2" was just a ballpark figure. I did measure the opening with calipers and these are the closest in size. I just wonder which type would be better, flat or X?

    Fish Finders

Ah, I see. Just thought maybe there would be a way for anglers who have mapped a lake to pass the info along to others fishing the same lake. Like on a thumb drive or something.

    McCulloch Leaking Filter Bowl

Would these be a better choice? They are the same dimension but says takes less pressure to make them seal. That it has two lips so it's less likely to leak: https://www.mcmaster.com/products/x-rings/od~1-505/

    McCulloch Leaking Filter Bowl

Would this work? Seems to be the correct size. Don't see where it says is specifically works with gasoline. Also wondering how thick it is. Maybe I missed that spec? https://www.mcmaster.com/products/o-rings/square-profile-chemical-resistant-viton-fluoroelastomer-o-rings/od~1-505/
