New prop and trim tabs update.

What pitch was your previous prop? How big are the trim tabs?

    Suzuki DF140 Fuel pump problems

My Mercruiser has a sensor that gives it signal when the engine is cranking or running, and won’t power the fuel pump without that signal. Likely you shouldn’t get power with the key in the on position and not running. I’m not sure on the low voltage, but would keep in mind that the starter is...

2004 Sea Ray 260 Sundancer sudden leak

Maybe put the trim and steering in different positions for a little while to see if bellows open up in some position?

Mercruiser 3.0 overheated, Is my motor shot?

I’m not the original poster. My motor runs great. Other issues. . . Engine isn’t one of them!

Mercruiser 3.0 overheated, Is my motor shot?

The PO showed me receipts where he had head work done due to over heating my boat before I got it. I found flapper parts in the exhaust y pipe, and in the lower unit. Both flappers were toast.

I didn't want to restore this 1997 Islander this summer

I got curious and decided I’d see what kind of things he posts, so I read a few. Wow, has to be the smartest guy on the forum. He knows exactly what everyone is doing with their boats from his keyboard and doesn’t need to ask a clarifying question or read your thread to know how you are screwed...

I didn't want to restore this 1997 Islander this summer

I’m not cutting any corners here, I’m taking enough time to do every part to the best of my ability. I work on it almost every weekend, and usually get up at 4:30 to make sure I get some done every week and still spend time with my family. I’m using the best parts and materials I can afford, or...

I’m fearful about it turning into a project that never gets finished.

Back on the mounts. Left my alignment bar at home when I went to use the gantry so alignment is only eyeballed, hopefully it didn’t move much and won’t be difficult if I have to correct it.

Steering ram and exhaust installed, hoping to get the engine set in place this morning.

Fwd bilge discharge, factory discharge. Original is 3/4, added one is 1-1/8. The second aft pump will use 1-1/8 as well

That piece of angle running vertically is the mounting point for the starboard cuddy cabin bulkhead. There’s an interior panel that’ll hide the hose. It’ll have to come up through the floor and a shelf, so locating the notches will help me get it routed how I want. I’ll add a pic of the outside...

Why 2 o’clock rather than 12? Is that to resist the hose and get the radius tighter? My thinking is to make the loop as vertical as I can. There is plywood under the gunwhale I can screw a clamp to and support it so I don’t have a lot of stress on the fitting and I figured I’d strap the legs of...

I’ll shape it more when I make it permanent. This is really stiff hose, heavier than I should’ve gotten. I don’t think I can bend shorter than 4-5” radius. I’ll put some zip ties around it when I install it fully.

I keep reading to put a 1’ tall loop above the fitting, but matched the 9” of the factory location.

Mocking up front bilge pump, routing hose and locating discharge. It is tough to get the hose on and off. Hopefully I’ll be able to get the cartridge for this pump if I need one in the future, it won’t be easy to change the whole pump over.

    Push come to shove, I bet I could turn 18”s into 16.5”s. . .

Port side. I don’t have my kicker on right now. The bracket stands off a foot in the up position I think. I’ll have to get it back on and mocked up before I order but pretty sure with the 9” chord they will get along. The 12” width wouldn’t really change it.

Also, when I put trim tabs on, I can use 316 machine screws, fender washers, lock washers, and nylock nuts. My transom is already .10” plus .090” laminated. I have some 1/8” x 1-1/4” aluminum flat stock, probably 6061, and it’d only take an extra half hour to make backing plates. I could get...
