    Big Volvo Props

Anyone have a idea where I can get a large prop for a Volvo 270? Right now I am running a 14.25X24 prop. My 454 (just a little more then stock) will push it near 4800rpm's. With each upgrade that I do I end up back near the 5 grand range. I had my prop reworked a couple weeks ago to get it up...

    Store them wet or dry?

Just got my new set of GLM aluminum exhaust manifolds. As you can see in the picture they come with zincs and drain valves. I know that zincs will not work unless they are in water. Just not sure what I should do. Flush and drain, flush and leave full??.What do you think?

    Chrome and paint

I had to get a set of taller valve covers so they would fit over my new roller rockers. So I ran all the usual places and came up with these from Summit for 27 bucks. To cheap to pass up on them and not really caring what they look like I bought them. Now I am thinking I want to paint them...

    Classified

Can anyone give me a link to the iboats classifieds? I have a 888 outdrive to sell and for some reason I can only link to the boats for sale section.

    Starter bolt pattern

As you can see in the picture it seems that my block is drilled for both starter bolt patterns and it uses a 168 tooth flywheel. Do you think I could use this one (Bond-o :D)...

    Can these wires be replaced?

Looking over I noticed a crack in one of the wires coming from the unit. Can they be replaced or are they "connected inside" and I would be better off shortening the wire?

Classic timing issue but its not.

I been having a issue that acts like a classic timing issue. You know when you try to start your motor after you just shut it off and it acts like you have a dead battery. I was out today testing right and left hand props. After swapping out a prop that was a right instead of a left or vice...

    Customer service and iboats

I bought two items about 2 years ago (strangely within a week of each other) that for some reason both did not work this weekend. One was a KeelGuard scuff buster. When I released my boat from the trailer it fell off. I contacted them last night by email knowing it was out of warrantee and asked...

    Busy weekend (454 build update)

I don't know what you guys have been up to but I have been busy. In the last three days I pulled the water logged 454 after work on Friday. Cleaned out all the milky crap and rebuilt the motor on Saturday. Sunday I installed it along with a number of other things I needed to do before installing...

    Water in oil *Update*

Hi; Total f_in dumb *** here. Sometimes I wounder how I don't end up killing myself with my stupidity. All that work down the tubes and all for what would have taken 15 seconds to do. Next time I'll make sure I install and tighten all the head bolts down.

    Oil Filter Bypass Lines

I have a remote oil filter with two hoses that brings the oil from the filters normal location to the remote location. The question is, what kind of PSI is in these hoses under normal operation? The gage on the dash is reading 55lbs. Is it the same in the hoses?

I need a starter but what one?

I need a starter and have no clue which one. The one I have now will not engage the flywheel. Background; 1986 MerCruiser, 454, MIE 340. It was a inboard originally. I stopped by a junkyard today and picked up ?staggered bolt pattern? starter for a 454. Probably a lot newer then 1986. Don?t...

To PCV or not PCV is the question.

Hey folks. Like a lot of you already know I am building and installing a motor in my boat. It is not anything you will find in the everyday manual so you will have to bear with me. This is the motor. It’s a 1986 454 Mercruiser bolted up to Volvo Penta. Or what I like to call my VolCruiser...

    Oil and filter questions

1, The 454 has a remote oli filter and the filter thats on there is a Baldwin B27. Anyone have a crossover to a Fram or something like that? 2, What is the recommended oil capacity (qt's) of a 1986 MIE340 (454ci)? Thanks for looking.

    The motor looks crooked

I am in the process of installing a 454 to my Volvo 280T in place of my Mopar 360 that was in the boat before. I am having a issue getting the thing lined up. When I first tried to install the 454 motor I found out that I needed to raise the motor mounts blocks (what the 454 mounts sit on in the...

Hey Don, what do you think of this?

I still need to clean it up a little but this is how it works. Grease in where it says "in" and where it comes out is just short of the inner part of the bearing. Or even with the lip inside the bellhousing that the bearing rests against. The bearings sit inside their case almost a 1/4" so...

    Adding grease to bearing?

I just got a new Volvo Penta bell housing kit for my Chevy. Now on my other bell housing for the Chrysler that’s in the boat now it has two fittings to add grease to the inner bearing. The new bell housing doesn’t have any fittings and for that matter I don’t see where they could have put one...
