To each his own. I for one, do not want the gearcase plugs leaking or unscrewing, while I am cruising along.

    Gas guage

A lot of fuel gauges stop moving when power is removed. When they are powered they move to the correct fuel position. If the fuel tank is empty, they will move to zero when power is applied. So, if you turn the ign key off, and she has 1/2 tank fuel, and you drain it, the gauge will not move...

    Scary

I have heard the ports are empty as well. They were overcrowded a month ago. I suspect the ports were crowded with ships loaded with goods to be delivered pre tariffs. Now, I will speculate that the manufacturers of imported goods are waiting to see what tariffs and when tariffs will begin...

    LOWER END OIL CHANGE

Jeff, hence the use of the hand impact driver. You first make the screws as tight as possible with a screwdriver, then use the hand impact driver and a few taps from the hammer to tighten them a bit more. I first used it on the Phillips head case screws of my old motorcycle. It was essential...

    Prop change on my bowrider

The Turning Point props are aluminum and pretty cheap. They share hubs, so for $100 or less you can get a new prop housing, if the pitch it too much. I ran a 21P 3 blade rapture on my '88 SeaRay 18 footer with a 4.3LX (205HP). It worked real well. The Turning Point Hustlers are nearly as...

    Tell tale not peeing

A lot of those V6 Mercs have the telltale downstream of the thermostats. That is, until the engine is warm, there will not be a telltale. On a flusher device at low RPM, the engine may not warm up. If the waterpump is working, you should see water exiting out the gratings above the...

Advice needed - low water pressure and cold engine temps

If the cooling system is like other Mercs, the idle temp is controlled by the thermostats. At 2000RPM or so, water pressure pushes the poppit open, adding lots of cooling water and lowering the water pressure. You might run both engines up to temp at idle and see what the temps are. if they...

82 50 hp tilt and trim

The trim switch will only operate if the trim limit switch is closed. The trailer switch should operate at all times. The trim limit switch is located on the starboard trim cylinder and bracket. They often break at this time of it's age. I do not know of a replacement, however, as long as the...

    boat snap on covers

Some really popular boats have their custom covers stocked by Overtons and some others. Other than that, make one yourself or have a shop make one.

    LOWER END OIL CHANGE

It is a hand impact driver. You hit it with a hammer to tighten or loosen screws. Don't hit it too hard, for low tightening, harder for more tightening. The plugs will stop getting tighter on their own.

    LOWER END OIL CHANGE

You will want to install new fiber washers on the two plugs. Make 'em tightest as possible with a screwdriver. A couple of taps with a hand impact driver to tighten them, is a good idea as well.

    1995 2 stroke, 0G310728 Spark plug wire

The ign wire should be stranded stainless steel. The plug boots usually have the spring connector with the sharpened end that pierces the insulation. This can be replaced for pennies. The other end is usually crimped on. I am not sure if you can get the connector or crimp it yourself. Those...
