looking to buy this motor for a winter project and was wondering if you could still get parts for this old of a motor, carb kit, impeller etc etc. don't know how deep in i'm going to have to go as far as motor. owner says motor has compression but thats all. any thoughts?

imo, dont try to overchoke it, maybe just let it sit, pull plugs, clean and try without choking like i do when i talk to my wife. seems to work most of the time.
if you have spark, shot of ether in the carb, brrr for a second you can nail it down to fuel not getting to carb then backtrack. fuel filter, gas tank vent valve, etc etc.
whatever you want to do, enough time on your hands, we as a species we tend to overthink everything. wait another minute people on here ( not dropping any names ) they will tell you to check compression, rebuild the carbs and make sure your bilge pump works. SILICONE AND BE DONE. spend more time...
every time you cut and splice something, creating a future problem. pull the wires up, use some duck tape ( quack quack ) to keep up. silicone under, let it dry, usually about a six pack, remove tape and silicone top
