    Starter mounting bracket stud in front mount broken out casting

    I assume your outboard has no recoil start. If you install one, the recoil’s front port side mounting bolt attaches to starter bracket, stabilizing the starter so it will function, and you’ll have recoil backup. Get a hood from a recoil start motor and off you go!

    test spark immediatly when it quits. CD module may be faulty (or charge or pickup coil under flywheel.. those can be multimeter resistance tested.. if all spark is lost, all 3 can be the culprit). good luck!

    I broke that roll pin on the 1st 6hp gearcase drop years ago, as I imagine many others have - thinking force was needed. Rotate flywheel until the pin aligns with the slot in upper exhaust chamber..

    Have you ever seen this?

    Lots of folks think the key drives the flywheel, but it is the interference fit of tapered crank to flywheel (torqued correctly). The key just orients/times the flywheel/magnets to engine stroke when installing flywheel.
