Theoretical power upgrades on a 5.7 gi

Have you checked at the manifold if the last 1/8 of throttle makes any change.

    VP 5.7 Gi-300-J overheating

A quick check on the 2 x hoses that supply the manifolds to make sure you have flow there, just undo the hose clamp and pull the hoses off then start the motor for a few seconds. Hoses on the raw water pump are the correct way round? Top one is the supply from the transom.

    4.3l over heats on plane

Looks to me as if there has been a leak at the "O" ring that seals the plastic nipple to the Brass pump body and someone's solution was to seal it with Silicone or something similar. Check that it does not leak and also make sure the pump body is not too worn. A new OEM impeller might work.

5.7 Volvo Penta Overheating at Idle

Easy enough to get at on mine, I remove it every time I replace the Trim Sender.

5.7 Volvo Penta Overheating at Idle

I am right behind alldodge. Over time I have replaced the circulating pump twice and they both circulated well, but they started leaking from the seal which threw salt water all around the engine compartment by the pulley.

Volvo Penta 4.3GL Water Pump Removal

Slack off the alternator for one belt and the power steering pump for the other, then remove the pump support. Then you have 3 Allen cap bolts (5/16" or 8mm Allen key) that secure the pump to the crankshaft damper (have a length of tube handy as they are tight) . Plenty of instructions on how...

5.7 Volvo Penta Overheating at Idle

When you replaced the rubber grommet in the lower drive did you replace both and inspect the Bronze (copper) tube? As I had this same problem of overheating only at idle.

SX outdrive stuck or was now broke :(

This I don't understand, because the bearing carrier buts up against the rubber of the bellows in the pivot housing. Do you have access to the Hose clip on the bellows at the Transom shield? You might want to undo that as well if you can.

SX outdrive stuck or was now broke :(

Not sure why you don't want to remove the bearing housing from the UJ's? it would allow you to put a chain around the back of the UJ's and use a slide hammer. The bellows needs to be dealt with, but that is the least of your problems! The pivot housing is just a couple of "Allen" bolts an earth...

SX outdrive stuck or was now broke :(

Remove the pinion gear retainer screw using a FTX-500 Torx bit. Then you should be able to pull it off the splined bit of the UJ. I believe you can then remove the pivot housing to give you some clearance to get some penetrating fluid in the gimbal bearing area which I expect is what is holding...

    trim limit spacers

Make sure you do not over extend you bellows as they can split if too much tension is put on them.

    trim limit spacers

Measure the extended length of piston rod as now, (then remover the trim limit spacers from inside) then lift the leg to the height you want, re-measure the piston rod length again. Cut off the difference from the plastic bit of the trim limit spacers.

Check your alternator, that is what supplies power to the petrol pumps after you release the starter.

Where does this little hose go from the thermostat housing?

Your port engine that is giving problems could possibly have a similar problem to the one I had, which turned out to be debris in the inlet gauze of the HP fuel pump that is mounted on top of the VST. The salt water side of the VST had rotted through to the fuel side (See photo arrow) and the...

Where does this little hose go from the thermostat housing?

Check The VST has a flow that returns to the portside riser. Mine was blocked at both ends and eventually I had to replace the VST, it was blocked and rotted through allowing salt water into the fuel side.

    Another Overheating Issue @ Idle

When I did these tests, I had installed a new Original Volvo Penta raw water pump. These might give you a clue. Tests done before finding the cause was the Bronze tube.
