    The Thermostat No. 8 is held in by "O" ring No. 9 just dig/pry the "O" ring out, then there is usually rust that needs a bit of cleaning to get the T'sta out.

    No, that will not work. Studs ie, the ones the nuts go on, are not metric.

    The studs are 20 TPI (threads per Inch) not Metric. and the nuts require a 5/8"AF Spanner.

    Sounds like the wrong sensor, I cannot find a 5,7L PEFS anywhere, might be a good idea to check your model.

    I agree, could be the circulating pump. Slacken off the "V" belt and grab hold of the pump pully and see if there is any play, if so replace it, takes about an hour or so.

    The ECU sets the timing on TBI. Timing shunt is not needed. Check the manual.
