    Force outboard maintenance

Anyone know how many pulses per revolution for these motors? Trying to use a tachometer

    Nissan or Mercury?

You've had better luck than me then. I checked eBay and a couple Honda parts dealers to no avail

    Nissan or Mercury?

Exactly Lou that's been my rub. I'm a brand new DIY boater and already made that mistake. I don't even consider buying another motor unless I can get a model number and look at part availability. It's sad though because this Honda was barely used. When I opened the carb to clean it, you can tell...

    Nissan or Mercury?

But yes for now I'm running this Honda. Runs like a top. Just look at the pull cord and it starts. It just won't be a motor I can use much longer due to unavailability of basic parts.

    Nissan or Mercury?

Haha I actually just fixed that today. It was running too rich. I just came across the motor from my brother and just cleaned the carbs and needed a carb and throttle adjustment. Way better now. The problem however is it is a B75 K1, so it's from the 70s. You cannot find parts for it anymore. I...

    Nissan or Mercury?

Okay I see what everyone is saying. My other consideration is the HP. I want to use this motor for trolling between 2-5 mgh. My current kicker is a Honda B75. Ive noticed that 7.5 hp gets my boat moving really easy, but the motor barely has to get above an idle to troll. I'm fouling plugs like...

    Nissan or Mercury?

So far it seems I can get parts pretty easy for the Nissan. I would imagine the merc would be the same. The model of the Nissan is an NS5B I believe.

    Nissan or Mercury?

So I've got a choice between buying 2 used outboards. A mid 90s Nissan 5hp and a mid 90s mercury 8hp. They are both approximately the same price and and in similar running condition. I want a small motor to use as a trolling motor on my 15 ft tri hull. What would you all choose?

    Honda b75 K1 or K2, carb help.

Hey everyone, I have a b75 Honda here (not a BF75) and I was wondering if anyone knows the procedure for adjusting the carb on this thing. It starts pretty easy but I use it as a trolling motor. After an hour or two of trolling, the spark plugs get super fouled and motor gets impossible to start...

Okay awesome thanks Topgun. I'll give it a wiff before I attempt to use it.

    Force outboard maintenance

I do have a 6 gallon tank, about 2 months old. Ethanol free and already mixed. Would that be considered stale? I have another 6 gallon tank, I thought about diluting the old stuff with new stuff.

    Force outboard maintenance

Okay cool, this leads to another question I have for you. Say I have some ethanol free gas already mixed with 2-stroke oil. How long can that sit before I should chuck it? I don't want to hurt the motor but gas is also super expensive here in the PNW.

    Force outboard maintenance

Awesome thanks Topgun and racerone, this is good stuff. Topgun, I remember reading that force motors don't take older gas very well due to the style of motor they are. Is there any truth to this? I will certainly get some of that product. Especially with the price if gas these days. Racerone, do...

    What's the proper starting procedure?

Okay sweet I'll keep that in mind!

    Force outboard maintenance

Okay sweet thanks for all the tips guys! How about fuel? 87 or 89 octane? Ethenol free I'm sure? How long can I let gas sit around? And what do I do to the motor if I'm not going to use it for 2 weeks plus?

    What's the proper starting procedure?

Yup copy that! I'm almost too afraid to use muffs so I have a barrel I fill up.

    What's the proper starting procedure?

    Awesome thanks Nordin!

    Force outboard maintenance

Okay awesome thanks for the info! So far Ive replaced the impeller, checked the prop, and replaced the seals in the carb. I'll pick up one of those manuals for sure. Should I mess with the fuel pump at all? I see those being mentioned.

    Force outboard maintenance

I recently got my first force outboard running and on the water. Runs pretty good so far but it will need some adjustments. My question is, how do I go about taking care of one of these motors? I am new boating in general, and from what I've read so far, these motors can be fairly particular...

    Why does everybody hate Force?

So I just got a 1988 force. Didn't run well right off the bat, but a little wrench turning and now she's running. Its a 30 year old motor after all and a bad stator and trigger should be shocking. She runs good now, and now I wonder, why do people hate them so much? I see so many people scoff at...
