Made an ignition switch plate Wednesday night and took it to a local engraver yesterday with a drawing of how I wanted it. It was done today already, so I picked it up and brushed it. I missed two small scratches that I didn't notice before the photo, but took those out right after.
Not a lot happening - I'm lucky if I have an hour to get anything done at night before it's too dark to work safely and it rained last night.
Been working at the store on a couple of wood pieces over the last 2 weeks. Wood power panel base is stained and coated with OTF. Should be able to...
Thanks for the encouragement guys.
Got an early start and began work at 7:45 AM. Wipe down followed by SE primer, alkyd primer then paint. Was ready for first spray of metal flake shortly after 1 and finished clear coat about 3:30. Admiral is happy with it and declared the painting done so I...
Well I probably went further than I needed to. I ended up dry sanding 320 then wet sanded with 400 and 600. Made sure all was feathered out for the resprays. Hopefully I can get to it this Sunday starting with some SE
Had both a good day - and an awful day today.
Started early and finished up the masking followed by SE priming some small things on the inside. Scrubbed everything down good with acetone and a micro fiber towel.
Got the old gun setup and primed at 50 PSI. Yeah!! the correct setting worked...
Don't feel like I accomplished much tonight. All I did was mark up where I want to place the seating and mock up the template for the raised deck. Dang it gets dark early now.
Tomorrow night I'll start masking planning for a day of priming and painting Sunday. Won't be home until after...
It didn't seem to matter how many measurements I took. I laid out more than 50 points on the wood off a center line and it just wasn't what I wanted so I took the old upper deck and started stapling pieces of cardboard to it then cut with an electric shear until I had what I wanted..
With...
I already have separate Blue Sea 6 socket fuse block and 6 banger terminal block, so will have to make do there. To cut down on the number of wire sizes, I changed the 18's to 16's. Hopefully I have the drawing right now ??
Thanks Micky. Dang, knew I was missing something. I have the ignition switch (round item on center left) fed from the battery, but no wires going from it anywhere else. This is my ignition switch =- the colors show the colors of the wires coming from the motor. "A" and "I" are not in use:
Doing some planning for the future. I THINK I may have the wiring figured out. Longest runs are 11ft and the most I might add later on would be a radio and fish finder. Does this look right?
Thx Kc
Got a 3rd piece of decking measured and cut tonight. Barely an hour and a half of daylight by the time I get home now. Laid out where I need to cut for the bilge cover and started to measure for the next deck section. I'm measuring every 2 inches off center for that one. May take a...
Thanks everyone. Your responses mean a lot to me. So glad that part is behind me.
Moved the trailer to the yard and covered it with the big tarp I had on the boat.
Back to the boat today. Started on the old helm. Any areas with loose paint I stripped down to bare metal. The rest I sanded...
Laid a good coat of Helmsman on the forward bunk wood last night and covered them with two layers of outdoor carpet today. Except for final adjustments once the boat is back on and some minor detailing I'm considering the trailer finally done. Now I can get back to work on the boat.
Got the winch post mounted late last night with the new lower bolt plate. This afternoon I mounted the new top plate and finally the wireless remote power winch. It also has an emergency hand crank I'll install later.
Thanks guys.
I painted the first new bolt plate Wednesday, so that one is done now. Glad I have a 2nd drill press at work. I just finished machining the winch mount plate and will get it primed and painted before I leave tonight.
Spent the last couple nights cutting steel for new winch post bolt plates and wood for the forward bunks. OTF should be ready by tomorrow night to do the final coats of Helmsman before I carpet them.
Got them mocked up tonight along with adjusting the keel rollers to the same height and...
At least got the new keel roller shafts cut and drilled. Put all the assemblies together and on, just need to adjust them so they're all the same height. Installed the new safety chain. Didn't get anywhere near as much done as I hoped for today, but plodded away slowly through the storms.
Worked on assembly Fri night and this afternoon. Got the springs, axle, fenders, wheels, tongue, jack, tilt mechanism, and tail light brackets and lights on. Pulled the wires through the tongue, but was too dark to continue after that.
Hope to get the trailer assembled enough this weekend to roll it out of the car port and get the boat back in it. Supposed to have a lot of rain here again for the next week or so.
Trying to plan ahead some. First will be painting the boat, then start cutting the decking. I will be coating...
