    Aren't my ignition coils defective?

get the DVA or other meter to get the peak voltage reading to make sure everything is doing what it should on the electrical. test what you can and if no problems found with that then chase the fuel

    Aren't my ignition coils defective?

checking at idle will not ensure there are no problems at higher RPM and under load

    Aren't my ignition coils defective?

if there is not the proper fuel to air ratio in a cylinder even good spark cannot ignite it

2001 Yamaha 50hp tlrz 2 stroke with prime start system starts and dies

does it continue to run if put in the open position like you 1st told us back in 2021? also verify what the timing is doing with a timing light. timing does change up as the motor starts, idles, and then warms up. plus the light will show if the spark drops, but may be hard to tell if spark...

    Aren't my ignition coils defective?

I have no idea if your motor has low and high-speed charge coils sending voltages to the CDI, but taking those peak voltages should tell you if there is a problem if you do have separate low and high-speed charge coils. with both motors doing it it is hard to believe both had the same type of...

    Aren't my ignition coils defective?

I would get some Peak voltage readings for all the inputs and outputs of the CDIs to make sure they read at least the minimum listed in your service manual. you mentioned that you made sure all pugs on Port motor had spark using a spark tester. to me that means they were sparking. what about...

    Yamaha 130 fuel connector

running a multi cylinder, multi carb motor dry cannot work very well. yes the motor will die, but there will be fuel left in the bowls, some will have more than the others. As it evaporates it will leave residue. and the Cylinders that run low 1st will lack lube as the others keep the motor...

2000 Yamaha F100 four stroke oil alarm goes off at first and then goes away

from what I have read, the alarm is an out of normal range of pressure for the RPM at that time. could be too low or too high. I would tee in a gauge to see what the pressure is doing when it alarms and when it goes away

Help with Engine ID / prop

So, you refusing to give us info from your motor or to look at the web site we recommended is running you off from this or another forum. you have got to be losing your mind. sorry to see you go, but you do what you want like you have

Help with Engine ID / prop

why is it so hard to take recommendations and look for yourself. we look up the info for our equipment, but we do not have the need to look up yours. maybe you will learn some new things in the process, so you do not have to rely on others next time you need that type of info

2003 Yamaha F25 Runaway Throttle on Start

I would not think it should be a 27 while idling, only at WOT. but I know very little about those 4 stroke motors since I never owned one or worked on one. It just does not make sense to why it would be that advanced at idle

    Yamaha key switch mount horizontal

grind the plat so the switch will fit in the position you want. you can always use some 5200 to hold it from turning

2003 Yamaha F25 Runaway Throttle on Start

I am confused about you setting the advance to 10 and 27. is this something on the timing light or the motor? My Snap-On timing light from back in the 70s does not have anything to set, just hook up and read what is shows on the motor.

2003 Yamaha F25 Runaway Throttle on Start

I am of no help, I do not see anything either in that manual on the timing. But I did notice at the end it is for a 1999 F25X Whatever that means. did you ever check to see if the throttle plates in carbs close all the way when you back off the throttle?

2003 Yamaha F25 Runaway Throttle on Start

My C40TLRX (2 stroke) has a linkage from the throttle linkage to a wiper on the CDI. this tells the CDI what position the throttle is in the CDI also has inputs telling the motor when the motor has warmed up or overheated. the CDI somehow changes the timing electronically using the inputs. I...

2003 Yamaha F25 Runaway Throttle on Start

I was talking about the timing when the spark plus fire. a timing light shows how many degrees before or after top dead center the plugs get spark. you are looking at the timing of the cam shaft and crank shaft. but you need to read your service manual to find the proper way to verify that...

2003 Yamaha F25 Runaway Throttle on Start

throttle plates should be closed in neutral, does not mean they are. you have to check if they are closed like they should be or open for some odd reason. linkage came off, or stuck linkage throttle plates maybe. Not sure what controls the timing on that motor, but a timing light will tell...
