Are aftermarket water pump repair kits for a Yamaha 40 0r 50hp worth buying?
My BIL had several vanes on his impeller come apart.
not sure but I think he had the pump replaced last year or maybe the year before.
was thinking they may have used an after market instead of OEM.

do you have gauges to tell you what is causing the alarm and RPM limit?
if so without the diode in place separating the oil and over temp, you may not get the proper indication.
at least that is what I think the diode if for
according to that wiring diagram, that pink wire should tie into a Grey and pink.
so look for that maybe
and it shows a diode in the system before it heads to the CDI, so I am not sure tying into another random pink wire would be a good idea

is your tank steel?
no, you need to measure voltage to the motor.
make sure the positive and negative is getting to the motor.
you can also make sure you have good voltage getting to the relay, not just the control voltage causing the relays to energize
I believe most of injected motors have Idle speed control valve that resets to 100% at shutdown to be ready for the next start.
it should rapidly drop idle RPM once started if that control valve works as it should and there are no other places it is sucking in air
what does that mean?
does the electric pump keep running as long as the key is in the on position maybe?
I would not think that is what is suppose to happen,
maybe it is sucking air instead of liquid fuel.
but I know nothing about that old motor
