While pulling a tube my '88 Suzy Q DT150ss sounded like it revved high. I immediately cut the throttle. We ended up getting towed in because in gear I could only go about 1 mile an hour. It sounds like it shifts, forward to reverse and neutral, but all it really does is swirl water...

got my new-2-me motor and it has two places I can connect my steering rod. Which one do I use? Does it matter? Should I use the one the gives the best arrangement for the steering cable?

Shown here is what might be a live well, without the pump. This is on the helm side. Under the cushion is a fitted lid that will lift up. In the back (far end) is a drain. The forward part, where the helm seat is, looks like it could lift up but is screwed and sealed in place.
