Yeah that was the worry is building it is going to be a lot more expensive than buying it. Pricing it out, seems like the cost is just about inline for buy vs build it so a matter of if I want to learn or not.

I am in Canada and have had a horrible time trying to find anything in Canada. If I was in the US I would have no issue at all. I wonder if it is cheaper to import it from the US than to build it.
I'm looking to build a tackle drawer unit like the one pictured below. I've not the first clue where to start.
My current thinking is I need to figure out hinges, sliders, how to cut/glue the parts, what I should use for material for parts, how to insert the latch.

My current 4 stroke seems quieter, more reliable, and cheaper to own than my old 2 stroke... however comparing an engine with 40 hours and one with an unknown number from 1977 is not really fair
Boating is expensive for sure, I do try to not spend too much on it where I can so that I can spend more on stuff that makes boater better. IE don't buy the marine whatever when you can get something equal for half the price or investing into something good will last 20 years not 2. Saves more...

The areas I go are not remote by any means, some of the most popular water around and I am within an hour or two of the coast guard station as well as along a busy shipping seaway.
Seems like as a backup not much sense.

I'm guessing he'd be well north of that to make it awesome however you can have a good day on the water with a safe but crappy boat. Assuming no rot and not a bad engine I'm guessing you could fix that up and add some quality of life stuff for under $3k. I've fixed a good number of crappy boats...
I typically check with all of the insurance companies each year. I have a canned email and have it scheduled for 2 months out before renewal. I update a few things in there and it seems to work well. I've saved a ton on home, auto, and boat insurance by doing that and not being afraid to switch...
Boat is going in tomorrrow to see what is wrong with it. I did some testing and looking into what I could on the engine and YouTube. Came back pretty much with just about everything is well beyond my mechanical ability and that I really should take it to my mechanic to see what he says.
I've been around this forum for a few years now and honestly forget to come back and post a response saying what worked or did not work half the time. You've given me a good kick in the ass to set a timed reminder for a week after a post to come back with a resolution or at least an update.
