Found bolt in 4.3 bilge. Please help identify

Good news - all three coupler bolts are still in. Better news! Found it! It was the 3rd bolt holding the power steering pump to the bracket. WHEW! As usually, thanks for your assistance!

Found bolt in 4.3 bilge. Please help identify

Thanks, Scott! I have verified that all belt/drive accessory and brackets are ok. I have a borescope - how do I get it inside the flywheel cover to see the coupler? If I pull the starter, I can see the flywheel teeth - do I need to snake in from there? I'm not aware of any inspection covers...

Found bolt in 4.3 bilge. Please help identify

This is quite the stumper! I'm hoping someone has seen this bolt on an engine, or has an engine out of the boat. I have reviewed every component and bracket that I removed and reinstalled - all are secure and all bolts still installed. It had to be installed somewhere and fallen out - I'm...

    4.3 crankshaft/housing oil leak - next steps?

Just reporting back - didn't wanna jump the gun. I pulled the engine, replaced both front and rear crankshaft seals, removed and reseated the transom bracket, replaced all the penetration parts (bellows, bushings, hoses, gear oil connector, trim and limit switches), wire brushed and painted...

Found bolt in 4.3 bilge. Please help identify

Wishful thinking! I certainly hope not. Because of the paint - I'm pretty sure it's not the flywheel coupler (already assembled under housing when painting) and those bolts look longer in online photos. This is one of the flywheel housing bolts, and I think they were all the same.

Additional clue… there is fresh black paint on part of head of the bolt. after i reinstalled the engine and drive, I decided to wire brush and repaint the surfaces i could reach (yeah, would have done it while out, but i ran out of time using my buddies shop to work on motor). i fully painted...

Hey all, I’ve got a 2000 Mercruiser repower engine with alpha one gen II drive. i recently pulled engine, changed oil seals, and remounted drive. She’s running better than ever! however, today I found this bolt in the starboard aft area of the bilge. and i cannot figure out where it...

4.3 throttle dependent squeal - not belt related

RESOLVED. that was a lotta squeal caused by carb bolts not properly torqued. I remember now a couple days ago when reinstalling and redressing the engine.. lots of components, lots of bolts and nuts. I said to myself … don’t forget to come back and torque these down, but I don’t always listen...

4.3 throttle dependent squeal - not belt related

Picked up a stethoscope. squeal strongest at front base of carburator and electric choke. Disconnected choke, no change. Sounds like it’s either inside the carb or under it. Puzzled. no indication of it coming from seal or front or drive shaft. Not valve covers or any belt components...

4.3 throttle dependent squeal - not belt related

Here's a couple videos - first demonstrates the squeal with change in throttle. Second shows a unique sound during shut down. Hope one of you experts can point me in the right direction from that sound, alone. thanks,

4.3 throttle dependent squeal - not belt related

This is the first run after replacing front and rear seals, water pump and alternator, on my 4.3. I tested the belt tensions and tried the water spray test, then isolated the pulleys - no issues. Finally, I removed the belt and started it just to verify and the squeal continues. Sounds like...
