Agreed. It does accurately show the code history on the boat as it identified faulty coil #6 (fixed under warranty). I used the capture live data function and it shows a ton of info. I have proprietary tools for my cars and wanted to buy Diacom for the boat but it's very expensive for just a...
Ran a couple of bottles of Techron and it seemed to run better. My current theory is clogged injectors with possibly one dribbling after shut off which might contribute to vapor lock when starting hot. Rough idle and fuel smell also consistent with injector issues.
Thanks. Load tested battery tests good. Alternator also tests good.
All fluids including out drive gear oil look good. No issues with gauges. Took boat back out again and this time no beep. Boat is difficult to restart with warm engine compared to when cold. Idle is rough and I can occasionally...
These engines share a common J1939 communication protocol with heavy diesel truck engines. Most heavy truck scanners can pull DTC codes from these engines if you purchase the correct cable adapter. I can confirm that an inexpensive Autel AutoLink AL529HD does work. It will display all of the...
If your speedo stops working, it's a known issue. With boat on trailer raise trim all the way up. Look under backside of out drive for a loose black hose. This is the pickup hose for the speedo. It should attach to a barbed white plastic fitting that will appear on the out drive as a square...
For anyone with speedometer issues with SX out drive--
With engine off raise trim fully and look under back of engine for a small black tube disconnected from a square white plug. The barbed nipple gets brittle and snaps off after 3-4 years of service. Vacuum out the plastic bits and replace...
Getting a single beep when engaging drive on '17 V6-200J, A699123. Located north end of Lake Washington in Seattle/Kenmore. Powered across lake after refueling with no issues, shut it off to lower bimini top, then some difficulty restarting when warm. Had to crank key twice and hold key in far...
Answered my own question. These are arrow style non-removable panel rivets/clips. Unlike the tree style or push pin plastic clips found on auto interiors, these apparently aren't designed to be removed. Prying them out with a panel removal tool requires enough force that a thin panel can be...
I found M6 "jack nuts" in stainless on Ebay and a hand install tool. I think this style might be less likely to damage the fiberglass from too much expansion pressure.
Thanks for the reply Scott. I have used rivnuts into aluminum but never fiberglass. I didn't use any special tools, only a couple of wrenches to mushroom them out. I worry that the stainless or galvanized rivnuts will cause it to stress crack from pressure. Maybe the pre-bulbed slotted style...
The grab handles on my 2017 Stingray 198ls pulled loose. I have shimmed the holes with zip-ties and tightened them up, but it's a poor long-term solution. The issue is that they used stainless wood screws from the factory. I'd like to through bolt them with a nut and a washer. Access from behind...
Thanks. Just ordered the PDF service manual. Hopefully it contains the coolant change as a service item which is not guaranteed as some manufacturers now treat coolant as non-serviceable by owners.
I feel like maintenance should be part of the owner's manual and every owner should have access...
Is there a diagram or an image online that shows the drain locations? All I see on the sides are this. Sorry for the quality of the images as it's pretty tight access. Could someone put an x marks the spot on these images?
LeadersRPM online or your local Volvo Penta repair shop. Still no luck on finding a diagram that shows the drain areas or whether this job requires pulling a vacuum to bleed the system when refilling.
