    Finishing before gelcoat

I'm using Velcro on the bottom of the bottom of the boat floor, Velcro sticks pretty well. The carpet is wider than the floor. Should I trim the carpet to the floor width or run some up the sides for protection? I'm thinking the floor width trim looks better; opinions welcome. I stapled...

    Finishing before gelcoat

What are folk’s experiences with carpet inside a boat? Good or bad? It’s cheaper than a laminate and covers up the floor

    Finishing before gelcoat

Instead of a laminate, I plan to put carpet on top of the gel coated fabric. Just run carpet midway up the sides to the ledge in the photo above?

    Finishing before gelcoat

Does anyone know of a laminate that you can put over Sprayed gelcoat that has the texture you see in OEM boats. It's a plastic with a diamond pattern. Something less expensive than PlasTeak? Here's the boat floor now after adding 2 layers of 1708 and then PE resin and then gelcoat with...

    1990 Johnson 90HP 2 Stroke Bogging - Help!

I second getting another fuel pump or replace the diaphragm. It sounds like a fuel pump issue as well. Good luck

    98 Johnson leaking hydraulic fluid.

I ordered a used Ebay tilt & trim that happened to be the same year and HP as mine. It works too! Is this a sensor switch? Mine is not plugged into anything. I could not find an unused plug on the wire harness for the boat. Anyone familiar with what this does? Thanks for all the replies; it...

Correction; cleaned contacts in relays and the pump runs, and the trim rods will still not raise the motor

    98 Johnson leaking hydraulic fluid.

I’ve rebuilt and replaced all of the seals and now the trim pump won’t run. It ran before the rebuild. The relays click but nothing, replace motor next?

Thank you for replying; that sleeve inside the main tilt tube is supposed to be pulled out and has O-rings to replace with some special Johnson tool that is hard to find. I think I'll just get this running and then hope it works. If not, and that sleeve Oring is crucial, then I need to find a...

Has anyone rebuilt the trim ona Johnson outboard? I’m trying to get the sleeve out but it seems seized in there. All other O-rings are replaced , I even tried using the sleeve tool, but this is in there Tempted to leave it in, since the leak in the trim tabs was around the piston and not the...

Yes, exactly, tilt rams will get it up to their max travel but center ram does not extend. The rebuild kits got mailed, so the rebuild of the of all the seals starts this weekend. Thanks again!

Adding strings to a boat without stringers

Before I put a hole in the hull, make sure you find if polyester or 3M 5200 sticks to the hull material. A brass Gabbard plug will ensure a leak free fitting to your boat, or you can use a brass drain tube with rubber plug...

    98 Johnson leaking hydraulic fluid.

Thanks Chris, I had thought the reason my tilt unit will not raise the motor was it had a bad pump. the motor will trim up but not raise the engine, going/trimming down the center hydraulic works; Is it possible one the relays is bad? Thanks again for your help.

Looking up J90TSLECM shows this part diagram. I circled what I think is the pump. I ordered the complete trim tilt Oring kit with filter. Or is the pump rebuild or pump ordered separately?

Adding strings to a boat without stringers

The hull looks shallow, but you could put at least 2 stringers about 2-3" tall in those grooves. What material do yu think the hull is? If its not fiber glass but plastic you will have a hard time bonding to that. You would use marine grade or CDX plywood, cut the stringers to match the shape...
