I want to remove the remaining gas from the fuel tank because I think it's stale
There's not much left in there as far as I can tell but I'd like to remove as much of what is left as possible so I can put fresh gas in without the old stuff mixing with it
What's the best way to go about doing...
The engine is an 86 Mariner 135 (ob106463)
When in gear at low RPMs, there is a distinctive "THUNK" sound which can be felt as well as heard.
It repeats every second or so
It's like something is slipping or missing maybe
It only happens just after putting it into gear.
It does not happen when...
I have to replace my ignition switch and have ordered a new one (see pic 1)
My problem is that the wires on the replacement appear to be somewhat smaller than what is connect to the old switch (see pic 2)
My questions is how best to splice the new switch to the existing wires?
The singles I...
I need a new ignition switch but not sure which one to get
The boat is a 1988 Nitro F/S
The engine is a 1986 Mariner 135 (0b106463)
The remote control is a Quicksilver I-Don't-know-what (see pic - not this exact one but exactly like it)
I know that the switch is the push-to-choke variety but...
I have a Quicksilver controller - see attached pic (that one is not mine but mine looks almost exactly like that with the same problem)
I know I need an ignition switch
I want to access the old one to see exactly what I need to get as a replacement
This is where I am now
How do I get to it...
sorry to be so technical in the title...
Every time I started the boat the nut where the key goes in would loosen and the whole thing would turn so today I had the brilliant idea to tighten it
As you can see in the pic, I broke it while attempting to tighten it. It didn't take much...
I charge my trolling motor batteries at the same time by connecting them in parallel. They are both the same brand/type battery and get used at roughly the same rate (used in serial for 24V)
I also have a cranking battery and deep cycle battery used as a house battery.
My question is can those...
Re: Questons about livewell
I've seen those aerator pumps you refer to. I have a battery operated pump (think aquarium pump) that I used to use in my bait bucket that I will probably use in the live well
The pic below shows the design of the live well. The bottom drain hole will be plugged...
Re: Questons about livewell
Hmmm, hadn't thought about an aeration effect
My thinking was that the whole thing would be submerged when the pumping was happening so the flow would be constant
I was looking at this assortment of 3 from Wally world which are cheap and I could pick the best size...
I have a '88 Nitro F/S
One of the previous owners decided he didn't need use of the livewell so it was disconnected and the switch is gone
I wasn't sure the pump would even work so today I connected it directly to the battery and it whirred to life. Hurray!
There are four holes in the transom...
ok, so maybe a silly question because everything degrades but I got to wondering because I wanted to restring a few of my reels and I had found some seemingly quite old spools (and by "quite" I mean likely 6 or 7 years...and maybe more) in my dad's tackle box. He can't fish anymore because of...
86 Mariner Marathon 135
ok, out on the lake today
Started fine
Had to come in for some gear
Tried to start and it whirred for a few but then started fine
Went across the lake and fished for a couple hours
Storms started coming in decided it was time to head in and it wouldn't start
only...
Boat and trailer combined weigh right around 3000
I tow it with a class 2 on a 2004 Explorer
Where I launch is a little shallow and where the water starts it's extremely slippery so I don't want to back into the water with the back tires at all
I think if I could get the boat in just a few...
Recently bought a titled boat with an unregistered trailer.
Previous owner never registered the trailer and states it had no tag when he got it
I can find no serial number on this trailer
Everything I read says to get it registered I will need to do it as a homemade but the DMV websites are not...
