I finally finished my little boat! I wanted to start off with something small to see what I was in for. It was a lot of work. Dont get me wrong. But not as much as I thought. If I get a wild hair for a new project, Ill do a slightly bigger boat. Im still on the fence about adding a motor. I just...
Tomorrow we will be attaching the keel. I noticed there was some kind of goo, paste, caulking that was between the original keel and the bottom of the boat. I'm guessing some kind of sealant. The keel was also screwed to the boat. What was the goop? What would you all use?
At least I think its a dinghy.
Anyways, there are not many videos about rebuilding them. I found one. Its grainy. There is a strip of wood that needs to go around the top. But I can not tell if it goes on the inside or the out side?? If any of you have any videos or pics, please send me some...
I went to look at the boat! BEAUTIFUL! I will pick it up Saturday. Questions...its 16 ft. No title. We are in Texas. He received it as payment for work done. I have the haul # And the trailer plate #. What do I need to do? I want to make sure I follow laws.
Sounds about right. This is only for me and my husband.
Why on earth is there not any detailed info about this boat? There aren't that many videos either?? I am going to try to do some research. I don't want to buy with so many unknowns.
It seems as though this is a bigger Dolphin sailboat. Im...
I found one that needs restoration. I haven't bought it. I'm researching first. One thing I haven't been able to find are pics of the inside cabin. I'd like to see the inside. I need a visual idea of what I'm in store for before I make a decision. Does anyone have one that they restored?
If...
I will be taking a boating course. There's a lot I don't know. And the size of the boat is iffy. 12 ft can easily be flipped. Which is why I ask questions and research. I saw a video of someone in a dinghy. That looked a bit scary. And as much as I would love a 14 ft boat, I think I'm going to...
Now that we are on the subject of wooden boats. What should I look for? I might go look at one next weekend if its still available. Its 12 ft long. Its a kit that was put together. A reminder, I will be hugging the gulf coast.
I've found a couple wooden boats. They really do interest me. Its what I prefer actually. I'm familiar with wood. My tiny travel trailer is made out of wood. Easy to work on. It is homemade. I didnt build it. I bought it for $500 and fixed it up. We took it all along the Gulf coast.
One boat...
I prefer older. Engines seem simpler. How much older I'm willing to go depends on how work intensive it will be. I'm always up for a good project though. I just finished my homemade travel trailer. I didn't build it, I just fixed it up and did repairs. However, as for a boat...something new to...
As I am looking for a boat, I have seen a couple older 1960's boats. I like these. They arent too long. I dont mind repainting it, or replacing the chairs and some carpet. I can work with wood. What I am curious about are the outboard motors. The few boats I have seen need an outboard motor and...
I passed this by hubby. Perfect idea!! Neither of us has driven a boat before. We have been on a boat. But have never driven one. We are doing our homework. What should we start off with?
