I started this for the first time in 10 years. Ran good. Water pump worked.
But it leaks a little water from this rubber boot.
Is this normal? Just ok? Or terrible?
We really just want to do a shake down.
But don't want to ruin the motor?
We may only use it for a few minutes.
From what I can tell this boat sat on it's trailer since 2009. It needed only a quick sweep and wipe down.
The floor and sides look to have fresh paint.
My only concern is this hairline crack in the picture. It goes about 6' from the stern to the bow on the starboard side and about 3' on...
I just wanted to show off a little bit.
This is for my 16' Luger leeward. I used spar varnish on the tiller and poly on the plywood parts.
Three grades of steelwool on the brass and then hit it with some butchers wax. Thought the was might keep it shiny a bit longer.
So, I don't have the title for either.
I know the perfectly right way to do it, but I just want to get on the water.
If you don't feel comfortable writing in the open forum , send me a pm.
The Luger was a kit boat when initially made and has no number stamped into the hull.
I was planning...
I am refurbishing a 2000 Johnson V4.
So, I am trying to save money, but I don't want to put in cheap parts.
I found the power pack OEM (0586292) for $217 and the CDI power pack (113-6292) for $183.
I'm trying to get on the water for cheap. Bills and everything require that I do this on a shoestring budget.
I need controls, oil tank, starter, steering cable for a 99' johnson 100hp.
I also need a starter, starter solenoid, power packs etc.
I live in Bergen county and the parents shore...
Re: quickest way to get boating. clear coat gouges. exposed glass.
OK. So I was able to grind it down and found the prior owner used car bondo to form out and fiberglassed over it.
So I ground out whatever bondo I saw except where he filled in a rod holder hole. I left that for later...
Chrysler 12.9 model 122hd with tote tank. Seems froze but haven't tried with a little fogging and a wrench yet.
Assume the worst. Exterior and cover in pretty good shape. Will post pics.
I know squat about old Chrysler motors.
I bought a 19 ft key west center console. I know how to do it right, but i dont have time and i dont want to spend the money to pay someone else.
The gelcoat on both gunwales alomg the middeck is down to the glass.
There is a large repair that was never painted and needs to be reglassed...
I am looking at a 21 ft starcraft with a 50 hp johson.
Is this enough HP to plane?
Also, can you leave an aluminium boat like this in the water all the time? Saltwater.
Here is a pic.
Re: Shoe string budget. Looking for reliability. Motor-19' Key West. I need your opi
I noticed that. I haven't tried to rotate with plugs off, but I will.
I'll going out next monday to see if we can get her running.
According to the guy it ran good about 3 years ago.
I was skeptical about...
Re: Shoe string budget. Looking for reliability. Motor-19' Key West. I need your opi
So here are a few pics of the motor that hasn't sunk and then flooded.
It is an evinrude XP150. V6. What do you think?
I am looking around for a motor.
Boat is rated for 100-150. According to Key West guy 70 Hp Johnson will take a while to get it to plane at 25mph IF it has a good prop.
Here are a few motors I see around.
According to the local marina guy the bullet proof engines are the mid 80s 3 cylinder...
