I have a 17' side console welded aluminum. In an effort to add some wind protection and some safety, will a bow dodger that is snapped to the outside of the hull with stainless supports actually deflect water? Or will it simply crumple?

Looking at a low hour 45hp Honda but don't know much about them. Are they fairly reliable? More importantly, what is the weight? I surfed around and couldn't find it. I suspect it is based on a 35hp and lighter than a 50hp? Thoughts?
I'm looking at a used Merv 50hp 4 stroke EFI that had only salt water use, can't say how much it was every flushed. It is a 2005 model.

What could cause a bad crank bearing on a 2 stroke? Looking at a mid-90's Yamaha Enduro (which is supposed to be made extra tough) that had a bad crank bearing, but everything has been rebuilt and runs great. No real history on it though - just curious what might cause this?
I'm looking for an older 70hp 2stroke, early to mid 90's I suppose. I found a great low hour Nissan but since discovered parts are tough to find as they are no longer being made.
What do you think I should be looking for in terms of parts, durability and service?
