Besides the gears what else did you replace? Do you know what caused the failure?
My thinking is could there be damage to the gearcase or a difference in another part where additional shims may be required. #51 are shims, there are different thicknesses of shims available.
Is the propeller shaft too high or the pinion shaft too low?
Is the pinion gear positioned correctly on the pinion shaft? Ie: not being drawn high enough when the nut is tightened.
It's amazing how much the price varies. I have seen this set for 650 on Marine engine.com. I know I have an undesirable setup by today's standards, which is most likely why some parts are not reproduced like some others. (Small Gearcase with Ford engine) 😊
I had spoken to them also, they only had used ones. I am going to put in as much new as I can which is why I have been holding out on them. I found them for $100 far less than most places.
