Hey Gang, Happy Thanksgiving weekend to all.

Still converting this shop area to woodworking from mechanics...and after assessing the building condition, it turns out its best to just refurbish it all, which involves roof patching with some rafter repairs, window reglazing, and interior finish work.

Ive been working on it almost daily but its a big task, so the boat work suffers again, but it will be much more enjoyable to work in a clean environment with the proper tools set up.

All this work is direct orders from the Admiral, which is something I never thought i;d hear: put off the house projects ur working on and refinish that barn" lol....She started a furniture refinish gig and realized she needs space ....so im giving her that back section..in the end ill end up doing all the work so basically its all gonna still be all my shop.

I did take the gantry i made and re-purposed it to a rolling cradle for the skiff, now i can move it anywhere by myself!

So now instead of climbing around the boat to work, I just roll it off to the side or outside for the day....:)

I got the Rockwell TS up refurbished and set up, took it all apart, cleaned and painted, and salvaged the safety switch from the dead Ryobi....

For a 1978 saw, she looks pretty good.

lol, They were from cattle stalls Sam, and the corner sections were from feeding troughs....they are on the other side too, actually, im so used to them I could walk around blind and not trip, but they have to go..makes moving machinery around a pain. I tried a demolition hammer but it didnt make a dent, gonna rent a jackhammer and chop them out, then patch the floor....just another thing on my list

Careful what u wish for kev, maintaining it is a bear...theres a bunch of little pinholes in the metal roof that I can see from inside with the lights out, looks like the stars, but when i get on the roof, i can never find all the little buggers! lol

Thanks Mike!

I was planning on a link belt, but I didnt see the full kit....Im gonna order the pre 1988 delta kit!. I have vibration and the belt alone wont solve it.

Im also planning on a set of pals to fine tune the trunnion. The fence is garbage but I make due for now, not sure if I want to invest in a better fence, I may just use it as is for a while, the upgrade to a 2-3 hp cabinet saw.

So far ive been using it daily, ripping 3/4 pine for the walls, and tested it on some old oak flooring im resawing into stock for a bunch of fastener drawer boxes. They come out pretty stright but have some saw marks probably from the cast pully, but nothing a jointer and planer cant fix.

In the end, I my dedicate it to a dado saw in the back room.

Thanks!

You might look into replacing the Trunion Bearins too! Take your time when you re-install the motor and try to get the pulleys on the motor and trunion as perfectly aligned as possible as well as getting the motor level. The design of the motor mount is NOT the best

Yea, next time I take it apart, im gonna change the bearings. Im gonna run it as is for now til I finish this barn, Once im done ripping all the wall and ceiling planks, it will be time to change out the Freud ripping blade for a thin kerf, then i can get a gauge on the miter slot and check the full revolution of the blade to the slot.

I think the combination of the link belt, pulley, and bearings should eliminate any blade burn. Then i can just run a sled with the dado without much bogging down.

Thanks as always for the insight! ;)

By the way, the boat is looking GREAT!!! Once my shop is done I MIGHT be tempted to build a small wooden fishing boat. The lake 3 miles from my house is a No Wake Lake and a 14 ft John Boat would be Perfect. I bought plans from Uncle John's several years back soooo, I may have to drag em out. Hope your shop gets finished in the near future too... Seems like LIFE always gets in our way!!!
